What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is an established training course aimed at newly qualified drivers and was
designed by the Driving Standards Agency with the help of insurance companies and the
driving instruction industry.
Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in their first two
years after passing their test, primarily due to a lack of driving experience. Pass Plus aims
to reduce this risk by building on your skills and knowledge. It will teach you how to
anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards to help make you a safer and more
confident driver.
What is Pass Plus Extra?
Staffordshire County Council has developed PassPlus Extra, a scheme aimed at
encouraging a greater take-up of Pass Plus by providing financial support in the form of a
subsidy, meaning that taking Pass Plus is now very affordable.
How do I get a subsidy?
In order to obtain a subsidy you must first attend a two-hour workshop. These are
scheduled at regular intervals throughout the region and are informative, fun and designed
to provide you with a wealth of useful information aimed at keeping you and your
passengers safe. Once you have attended a workshop and depending on where you live,
you will qualify for a substantial reduction in the cost of taking Pass Plus.

• Book yourself on a workshop of your choice
• Locate a County Council PassPlus Extra registered instructor

This scheme is only available to residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent and is subject to budget availability.
A subsidy is conditional upon attendance of a workshop. The level of subsidy may vary from district to district.
The practical element must be taken with a Staffordshire County Council PassPlus Extra registered Instructor.
