A Ministry Update  August 2015
A School of Prayer
MISSION:
Probably the most loved and quoted text in the Book of Chronicles expresses God’s
expectations for a nation to experience His blessing: “If my people, which are called by my
name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked
ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14, KJV
As we begin a new school year… our 180 day evangelistic series, the Madison Academy team
takes God’s promise seriously. While we are not the nation of Israel, and our leadership is
not Solomon, the expectation is clear: spend time in His presence.
Pray. Seek. Turn. And THEN…
With that in mind and before the first student entered the buildings,
our faculty devoted some special time during pre-session in prayer
for our team, our school, and our families.

On the first Sabbath of the year, more than 120
parents and friends gathered for the annual
Prayer Walk and roamed the grounds praying
specifically for the campus and the students who
would fill it.

mercy, and walk
humbly with thy God.”

Week of Prayer, held the first full week of
school, included guest speaker, E.L. Jones,
new Assoc. Pastor at Hillcrest SDA Church.
To close the week, Andrew Ware, SA Religious Vice President, and
Chaplain Andrew Jamieson hosted an Agape Feast on Friday night.
Students and parents were invited to enjoy a light
supper then were divided into groups to experience
several stations of prayer. At one location, guests were
invited to place their burden on paper and watch it
disappear. In the gym, students shared their goals for
the year and prayed over them. Other locations
included reading scripture and praying for people of
various countries. At the end of the evening, the full
group knelt together in corporate and
individual prayer for our school.
Diana Johnson, parent of a Freshman,
remarked at the vespers: “It feels like the
Academy was very intentional in
planning the events of the first two weeks
of school. We are loving this place!”
~ Psalm 66:16, 20

from Dallas Christian
Academy in Texas, where she
has been teaching English,
Music, and Chemistry for 4
years. Before that, she spent
two years as the music director
for Redding Adventist
Academy, in Redding,
California, which is where she was born and raised.
Before moving to Redding, she and her husband, Tom,
lived in Madison for 12 years, during which time she
spent five years teaching rhetoric and composition at
Trevecca Nazarene University and Belmont University.
Her children, Joshua and Hollyann are both in the high
school at MA and are excited to be back “home.” In her
spare time Diana enjoys writing, making music with
friends, baking, and hiking the beautiful Tennessee

feel blessed to be a part of the MA family.
