SendLunchMoney”.Negativebalanceletterswiththestudentsnameandbalancewillbe

bemade.
Afterthethirdmealcharge,studentsarrivingatschoolwithoutpaymentoramealfrom

thenextschoolyear.Refundsofapositivebalanceforstudentsleavingthedistrictorgraduating
maybeissuedbymakingarequesttothedistrictFoodServiceDirector.Arequesttotransfer
fundsbetweenstudents’accountsinthesamehouseholdmaybemadeuptooneweekafterthe
closeofschoolyearbysubmittingarequesttothedistrictFoodServiceDirector.
AnyunpaidbalanceinthestudentschoollunchaccountmaybetakentoSmallClaimsCourtafter
30days.

Transportingchildrensafelyto/fromschoolisourtoppriority.Tohelpmaketransportationrun
smoothly,pleaseadheretothefollowing:
• Ridingaschoolbusisaprivilege,notaright.
• Thestudentshouldbewaitingathis/herboardingstationwhentheschoolbusarrives.Ifthe
studentisnotattheboardingstation,thedriverwillhonk3times.Ifthereisnoindicationfrom
thehouse,thedrivermayleavethepickupstationafterwaitingareasonabletime.
• Nofoodordrinksonthebus(unlessanathleticevent)
• Ifyouneedtomakeachangetoyourchild’stransportationschedule,pleaseallowfora24hour
turnaroundtime.Thisenablestheofficestaffandbusdrivertoplanaccordingly.
• Pleasedonotcalltheofficetorequestthatadriverturnaround.Forsafetyreasons,wecannot
allowthedrivertoturnaroundtopickupyourstudent.
• AlltransportationchangesmustbefilledoutontheTransportationformandturnedintothe

Allchildrenneedimmunizations(shots)to
protectthemfromdangerouschildhood
diseases.Leftunprotected,theconsequences
ofthesediseasescanbefataltoachild.
Acompletedvaccinationhistoryrecordalong
withalegalcertificateofbirth,(fromthe
healthdepartmentofthecountryorstatein
whichyourchildwasborn),arerequiredfor
admissiontoschool.Childrenmayenroll
withoutproofofimmunization,butwill
notbepermittedtoattendschoolunless
theschoolgivesawaivernottoexceed20
daysunlesstheparentsubmitsamedical
andorreligiousexemption.

Onetypeofmeningitisiscausedbya
bacteriacalledNuestraMeningitides.
Infectionscausedbythebacteriaare
serious,andmayleadtodeath.
SymptomsofaninfectionwithNuestra
Meningitidesmayincludeahighfever,
headache,stiffneck,nausea,confusion
andarash.Thisdiseasecanbecome
severeveryquicklyandoftenleadsto
deafness,mentalretardation,lossofarms
orlegs,andevendeath.Itcanbespread
throughtheairorbydirectcontactwith
salivafromanotherpersonwiththe
disease.
Thereisavaccine(Menactra)thatcan
preventmostcasesofmeningitiscaused
bythisbacteriainpeopleovertheageof
two.TheUnitedStatesCenterforDisease
ControlandPrevention(CDC)
recommendsvaccinationagainstthis
diseaseforallchildrenandadolescents
11-18yearsofage.Childrenages2-10
whohavesicklecellanemiaorproblems
withtheirimmunesystemsshouldalso
receivethisvaccine.
Beginningwiththe2013-2014school
year,onedoseofMenactraisrequiredfor
studentsingrades6-11,andasecond
doseisrequiredforstudentsentering
into12thgrade.Allstudentsentering
grades6-12willneedtohavearecordof
thisimmunizationinthestate
immunizationsregistry(CHIRP)ora
signedwrittenstatementfromamedical
providerpriortothestartoftheschool
year.Checkwithyourdoctortoseeif
yourchild’srecordisinCHIRP.
