Eshu Bumpus, Jeremy Brunaccioni, Frostie Bean, Karla Clarke and Melissa Makosiej. There was once a giraffe named Kaitlyn. She was 10 feet tall and she had blue eyes and long, brown antlers. She lived with a big dinosaur named Monique. Monique was 19 feet tall and she always wore pink shoes. 1 They lived in a giant, gold, round house with a spiral staircase. 2 Kaitlyn was really good at running. She could run faster than a cheetah. 3 One day, Kaitlyn and Monique were playing with their toy trains when Monique got hungry. She wanted some meat leaves but you could only get them in Danger Jungle. It was 59 miles away. Monique asked Kaitlyn to go to the Danger Jungle to get her some meat leaves. Monique warned Kaitlyn, whatever you do, don’t go into Cheetah Valley. It’s full of Cheetahs! 4 It was a spring morning that was warm and then hot, so Kaitlyn put on a pretty pink dress with a beautiful dark pink sweater. Then she gave Monique a big hug and said, “I’ll miss you” and went out the door. 5 Kaitlyn had to cross a dangerous river with many, many dangerous fish in it, especially Huntress the Catfish. She was as mean as a dinosaur. Luckily there was plenty of wood near the house so she could make herself a bridge. It took 10 hours to 6 build a nice strong bridge. Kaitlyn walked for 10 hours before she got tired and had to stop. Suddenly, she saw a beautiful peacock. It was green, red, and black. The peacock said, “Follow me!” She wanted to get closer so she followed that peacock but it led her all the way into Cheetah Valley. The peacock said, “I tricked you!” 7 Suddenly, Kaitlyn got caught in a great big cheetah trap made out of metal. She felt sad and scared. She cried; “Help!” as loud as a Tyrannosaurus Rex. 8 Just then, the leader of the cheetah’s came out. She was ginormous. She had a crown of silver and gold. She wore a really dark purple jacket and black and purple shoes. She said, “My name is Julia and I’m going to put you in Crocodile Swamp.” 9 Kaitlyn said to Julia, “If you let me out of this trap then I’ll give you my beautiful sweater.” Julia said, “It’s a deal,” and she opened up the trap. 10 Immediately, when Julia opened up the trap, Kaitlyn started to run really fast and 3 cheetahs started chasing her. They chased her for 10 minutes before they gave up because Kaitlyn was just too fast. 11 A couple of minutes later, she arrived in the jungle She could tell it was Danger Jungle because it had hippos. The hippos showed her the sign to find the meat leaves. She picked a basketful of sausage and chicken flavored meat leaves. She ran home at lightning speed because she didn’t want any trouble. 12 When she got home, poor Monique was so hungry, she was just about to put Kaitlyn’s best pair of shoes in the oven. Kaitlyn yelled, “Don’t eat my shoes, please! I brought you some meat leaves.” “Oh, you are just in time,” Monique sighed. Then she gobbled down the basket in one big gulp. 13 Kaitlyn said, “What was that all for!” Kaitlyn was hungry too, so she ate 4 mangoes. Then Kaitlyn and Monique went back to playing with their toys. They stayed playing for 1,200 hours. That is 50 days! Then they went to bed and slept for 1 minute. 14 Their Uncle George the Hippo came to visit and they told him the whole story. “Oh my!” said Uncle George. “You missed your bedtime. You must go to bed now! Put on you pajamas and brush your teeth.” 15 He let them each have a sip of water and told them a bedtime story of Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs. It reminded them of eating porridge. That night they dreamed of delicious oatmeal with brown sugar and butter and maple syrup, much safer than meat leaves. 16
