LUINO AND VILLA DELLA PORTA BOZZOLO
Gathering of the participants at a place and time to be later defined. Meeting with the guide
and departure for Luino, a charming little town facing Lake Maggiore. The old town centre
hides narrow alleys and elegant palaces, the lake front is embellished with little art jewels,
Modern-Style villas and fanciful wrought iron works. A corner of Lake Verbano that
maintains the charm of a bygone era, a little town whose special, intimate atmosphere was
an inspiration to one of the greatest Italian writers, Piero Chiara. Independent lunch or
dinner in one of the restaurants indicated below. After lunch transfer to Villa della Porta
Bozzolo, a mansion dating from 1700 surrounded by a park of astounding beauty: paths,
parterres and terraces enrich the landscape and make it unparalleled and breathtaking.
The interiors are fully furnished and painted, letting the visitors in the lavish aristocratic
atmospheres of the eighteenth century and in its uses and customs. At the end of the

part of an archaeological park of great appeal, now Unesco’s heritage. The numerous finds
bear witness to the pomp and power of ancient civilizations, especially the Longobards’. The
old Castrum treasures the remains of remarkable structures: castle towers, strong defensive
walls, ancient basilicas, military buildings, and an extraordinary fresco derived from the
apocryphal gospels, which tells episodes from the life of the Virgin Mary and the infancy of
Jesus Christ.
Independent lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants indicated below. After lunch transfer to
Castiglione Olona, one of the most picturesque little towns in the whole province, an authentic
art jewel. Its noble past makes it a bastion of culture immersed in the green of the Olona
valley. The elegant buildings tell about ancient atmospheres of courtly life through the
delicate Tuscan colours and the sweet countenances painted by Masolino from Panicale. The
languages of great artists interlock with one other to form an exceptional work of invaluable

MODERN-STYLE TOUR IN BUSTO ARSIZIO - ARSAGO SEPRIO
Gathering of the participants at a place and time to be later defined. Meeting with the
guide and departure for Busto Arsizio for the guided tour of the city. Elegance, originality
and tastefulness stick out of numerous villas and palaces thanks to the work of great
figures like architect Silvio Gambini (Teramo 1877 - Busto Arsizio 1948) and artist-artisan

Of Bramantesque style, it is the work of Antonio from Lonate (the author of the model of
the Duomo of Vigevano) and of Tommaso Rodari, the famous sculptor and architect
whose works can also be admired in the Duomo of Como. The interiors treasure
masterpieces by Gaudenzio Ferrari and Bernardino Luini. At only a 100-metres’ walk we
reach the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist in Busto Arsizio, one of the most important
Baroque works in the Province of Varese. The impressive, plastic façade displays
stunning decorations and mighty gates of copper and bronze embellished with basreliefs. The soaring baked-clay bell-tower is an ancient, elegant workpiece. The interiors
treasure exquisite frescoes by Biagio Bellotti, renowned artist of the Lombard eighteenth
