National Guild of Community Schools for the Arts
Our mission is to provide high quality
instruction and participation in the
performing and visual arts to all
interested persons, regardless of age,

Increase Accessibility to Arts Education
The Multnomah Arts Center Association is working hard to
increase accessibility to need–based scholarships and provide
new outreach efforts throughout Portland. Your donation will
help support these efforts. MACA is an all–volunteer 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization that supports the vibrancy and health
of MAC through fundraising and advocacy. Your gift is tax

It’s been a very lucky seven years that I’ve
had the honor of directing MAC. Thanks
to the incredible support of community
members like you, our nonprofit association
has helped renovate the MAC gallery,
the metals, ceramics, printmaking and visual arts studios, and
created one of the city’s most beautiful murals in our lobby.
Now our focus is turning to the performing arts! Please take
a look at page 42 to learn more about our immediate plans to
bring SW Portland a greatly enhanced auditorium and a new
performing arts space in the dance studio. Then, seriously
consider supporting MACA as we embark on our biggest
journey yet. Go to www.MultnomahArtsCenter.org/donate
now. We can do it with your support!

Family Classes
Family classes are designed for parents, guardians and children to interact and participate together. Our philosophy is to
honor the child’s creative impulses—focusing on process, rather than product. Visual art classes provide instruction in the use
of art materials and techniques, encouraging each child’s individual style of visual expression. We recommend both adult and child
wear grubbies as these classes can be messy. All materials are included. Clean–up is part of all MAC Youth Art classes.

the binder burns away and the metal particles fuse to form solid metal. Discover
the versatility of this medium while experimenting with organic textures, hollow
forms, stone setting and 3 dimensional structures. Tips on combining metal clay
with sheet metal fabrication, cold and hot connections and patinas also covered.
Price includes a $75 materials and studio fee which is non–refundable after class begins.

MACA welcomes your support & expertise.
Contact MAC’s Executive Director for more information.
1. Choose the activity you would like to participate in, and then the PP&R
site where the activity is being offered.
2. Register for the activity. You can do this in person at a PP&R site, or
online at www.PortlandParks.org. When registering, let the person know
that you will need accommodations in order to participate in the activity
(online, check the box.)
3. Once registered, please contact Inclusion Services at
503–823–4333. If this is your first accommodation through Inclusion
Services you will need to do a phone intake with a staff member. At the
end of the phone intake, it will be determined whether an assistant will be
needed on the first day of the activity to provide on–site support. Future
assistance will be provided based on need. The inclusion staff will work
with the instructor on how to support you and your individual needs.
Important Details
A general program may be adapted using auxiliary aids and services, but the
basic structure of the program remains the same. Accommodations are made
as needed, and can be flexible and creative. Participants need to register for
activities that are intended for their birth age. Personal care is provided for
activities in the pre–school and youth category, up through age 12.
If you have questions about Inclusion Services, please call 503–823–4333
/TTY. A minimum of 10 business days (Monday–Friday) advance notice is
required. The Inclusion Services staff will do their best to accommodate each
participant.
