Removing Cover of Mini Storage Tower
Hardware Installation:
A. MST4IDEU2:
Step 1
Loosen the 3 screws at the back of the tower
using a Philips screwdriver by turning
counter-clockwise.
Factory Settings:
Mini Storage Tower with JBOD USB 2.0
adapter (AD4IDEU2) installed
NOTE:
If you are connecting 4 hard drives, for
each of the two IDE ports, you need to set
your IDE hard drives as master and slave.
If you are connecting only one hard drive,
on one IDE channel, you need to set it up
as master. The end of the IDE ribbon cable
is where you connect the master hard drive
and the middle connector is for the slave.
Step 2
Separate the metal casing of the storage
tower from the housing by lifting up the
casing as shown on the photo.
Cable connections:
• 2 12" UDMA IDE cable (AA2IDE80-12),
• 4-pin floppy power connector for JBOD USB2.0 power
• Power LED
• Four hard drive activity LED
B. MST5X1PM:
C. MST5XHPM:

D. MST4ML:
Factory Settings:
Mini Storage Tower with 4SATA Multilane
connector (AD4SAML) installed.
Note: You need to install the SiI4726 Manager on your system to configure RAID
sets.
RAID configuration is programmed by connecting the hardware port multiplier:
• to one of Addonics’ SATA controllers that has SIL3124 or SIL3132 chip set.
• via USB 2.0 connection (optional Addonics eSATA-USB adapter is required)
After RAID configuration, it is compatible with any SATA controller (RAID or non
RAID)
Software Installation for SiI4726 Manager
A. From the CD start-up menu select SATA RAID Utilities > Other
SATARAID Utilities > Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista.
B. Unzip the file SiI_4726_Manager_V4.0.0.9.zip on your drive. The folder
name would be SiI4726.
C. To install SiI4726 Manager, double click setup.exe
In SiI4726 Manager, all the drives connected to the
AD5SAHPM-E will show up.
For a complete User’s Guide of SiI4726 refer to our website.

E. MST4ESA:
Storage Device Preparation
Factory Settings:
Mini Storage Tower with 4 eSATA ports
Step 1
Using 3.5” IDE or 3.5” SATA Hard Disk Drives or using Jupiter Mobile Rack with
2.5” IDE Hard Disk Drives.
Slide the storage device into the embedded mounting bracket.

drive
Cable connections:
• 4 internal SATA data cable
• 4-pin floppy power connector for port multiplier power
• Power LED
Jupiter
mobile rack
Step 2
For model MST4IDEU2:
o
Note: Hard drive LED activity lights does not function for this model
Using 3.5” IDE Hard Disk Drives
Connect the IDE ribbon cable to the data
port of the hard drive and connect the 4-pin
Molex power connector to the power port on
the hard drive.
o
Using 3.5” SATA Hard Disk Drives with SATA to IDE converter (ADSAIDE)
Plug-in the SATA to IDE converter to the SATA interface of the hard drive.
Connect the Y-power cable’s 4-pin floppy power connector to the 4-pin power
port on the converter and then connect the IDE ribbon cable to the 40-pin IDE
connector of the converter.
For models MST5X1PM, MST5XHPM, MST4ML & MST4ESA:
o
Using 3.5” SATA Hard Disk Drives
Connect the internal SATA data cable to
the data port of the hard drive then connect
the 15-pin SATA power connector to the
power port on the hard drive.
o
Using 3.5” IDE Hard Disk Drives with IDE to SATA converter (ADIDESA)
Plug-in the IDE to SATA converter to the
IDE interface of the hard drive. Connect
the Y-power cable’s 4-pin Molex power
connector to the power port on the hard
drive. Using the middle connector on the Ypower cable plug it to one of the 4-pin
Molex connector connected to the power
supply. To power the converter, connect
the Y-power cable 4-pin floppy power
connector to the 4-pin power port on the
converter then attach the internal SATA
data cable to the data port of the converter.
o
Using Jupiter Mobile Rack with 2.5” IDE Hard Disk Drives and a IDE to
SATA converter (ADIDESA)
Plug-in the IDE to SATA converter to the
IDE interface of the mobile rack. Connect
the Y-power cable’s 4-pin Molex power
connector to the power port of the mobile
rack. Using the middle connector on the
Y-power cable
Plug it to one of the 4-pin Molex connector connected to the power supply.
Connect the Y-power cable 4-pin floppy power connector to the 4-pin power port
on the converter. Also connect the internal 900 right angled SATA data cable to
the data port of the converter.
Step 3
Secure the hard disk or mobile rack by
using screws provided. Be sure to use
the pre-punched hole near the edge of
the casing to screw the mobile rack to
give ample clearance for the SATA
cable.
Repeat the above procedure for additional hard drives or mobile rack
Step 4
To power on the mini storage tower press the switch in front of the tower.
Note: For Jupiter Mobile Rack configuration on the Mini Storage Tower, it is
important to use an internal 900 right angle SATA data cable.
Description
MST5X1PM: Mini Storage Tower with one 5X1 Port Multiplier installed.
MST4ESA: Mini Storage Tower (black) with 4 eSATA ports
For better cable management, up to 4 hard drives can be place inside the mini
storage tower and be connected to your system via one eSATA cable using a
port multiplier.
Connects drives to system via 4 individual eSATA ports
Either 3.5” SATA or 3.5” IDE hard drives can be used with the MST5X1PM. If
3.5” IDE hard drives are to be used additional components must be purchased to
convert the IDE interface of the hard drive to SATA interface. Both configurations
will be illustrated in the next pages.
Note: Hot swap feature depends on the SATA controller the port multiplier is
connected to, not on the storage tower. All Addonics SATA controllers support
the hot swap feature. Port Multiplier does not work with SATA controller that has
no port multiplier (PM) support. Check with your system supplier to confirm the
PM support on your existing SATA port.
MST5XHPM: Mini Storage Tower with one 5X1 Hardware Port Multiplier
installed.
For better cable management, up to 4 hard drives can be place inside the mini
storage tower and be connected to your system via one eSATA cable using a
hardware port multiplier.
Either 3.5” SATA or 3.5” IDE hard drives can be used with the MST5XHPM. If
3.5” IDE hard drives are to be used additional components must be purchased to
convert the IDE interface of the hard drive to SATA interface. Both configurations
will be illustrated in the next pages.
MST4IDEU2: Mini Storage Tower with JBOD USB 2.0 adapter installed.
You can connect up to 4 IDE hard drives (or SATA hard drives using the
Addonics SATA-IDE converter) inside the mini storage tower to your system with
1 single USB cable. The 4 drives can be set up to appear to your system as 1
large drive, 2 drives or as 4 individual drives.
MST4SAML: Mini Storage Tower with 4SATA Multilane connector installed.
For better cable management, up to 4 hard drives can be place inside the mini
storage tower and be connected to your system via 1 Infiniband Multilane 4X
cable.
Either 3.5” SATA or 3.5” IDE hard drives can be used with the MST4SAML. If
3.5” IDE hard drives are to be used additional components must be purchased to
convert the IDE interface of the hard drive to SATA interface. Both configurations
will be illustrated in the next pages.
Either 3.5” SATA or 3.5” IDE hard drives can be used with the MST4ESA. If 3.5”
IDE hard drives are to be used additional components must be purchased to
convert the IDE interface of the hard drive to SATA interface. Both configurations
will be illustrated in the next pages.
