satisfaction”
“this meeting has

Bessam Farjo
I am delighted to welcome you all to
Manchester and the very first ISHRS
sponsored workshop in Western Europe. I
chose the theme of hairline design and patient
selection, as I strongly feel these are amongst
the most critical elements in achieving patient
satisfaction and outstanding hair transplant
surgery results.
I am honoured to have at our disposal some
of the most outstanding and world-renowned
hair surgeons as faculty. I hope you will all
benefit from their sharing with us their skill,
knowledge, experience and wisdom.
Finally, please make sure you take the time
to explore our famous city and this region of
the United Kingdom. Both Nilofer and I, along
with our staff, will be pleased to assist you in
any way we can.
Bessam Farjo MB ChB
Workshop Host & Program Chair

Carlos Puig
We at ISHRS are very excited about the
Manchester workshop. I am sorry that my
schedule will not allow me to attend, as this
meeting has an outstanding faculty with years
of experience and insights.
Drs. Farjo have been respected educators
and researchers in hair restoration surgery
for years. The profession’s respect for their
work was demonstrated by awarding them
the Platinum Follicle Award last year.
This is an important workshop that is focusing
on how the basic principles of hair restoration
surgery such as hairline design and patient
selection are properly integrated with
contemporary technologies like FUE.
Knowing the Farjo’s as I do, I am sure you will
not only learn a lot but also have a great time
doing it.

Who We Are
International Society of
Hair Restoration Surgery
The ISHRS is an international, non-profit medical society comprised of over 1,000 members
representing over 60 countries – dedicated to promulgating the highest standards of medical
practice and medical ethics. Member categories include physicians, adjunct (researchers),
residents, and surgical assistants. Since its incorporation in 1993, a renaissance in hair restoration surgery
was set into motion by the ISHRS. The multidisciplinary, international membership of the ISHRS is a critical
mass for innovation in hair restoration surgery.
MANCHESTER
Manchester is one of Britain’s coolest cities – a truly contemporary metropolis. While elements
of its industrial past can be found throughout the city, it also boasts landmark cultural centres,
major shopping attractions, an innovative music & night-life scene and world class sport – home
to the world famous Manchester United. It’s this dramatic mix of old Victorian and new urban that
gives Manchester its unique character.
The ISHRS provides continuing medical education to physicians and fosters an environment of
open dialogue, sharing, and collegiality. The ISHRS gives the public the latest information on medical and
surgical treatments for hair loss. The ISHRS is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical
Education and is a member of the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates. The ISHRS hosts the
Global Council of Hair Restoration Surgery Societies which is comprised of the regional and national
hair restoration surgery societies around the world.
The primary educational offerings include the Annual Scientific Meeting (a.k.a., The Big One) which
rotates the globe, the ISHRS’s publication, Hair Transplant Forum International, which is
published 6 times per year, the Orlando Live Surgery Workshop, regional workshops, and online
webinars and DVDs.
The ISHRS also coordinates an annual Newcomers Program as well as a Fellowship Training
Program. In addition, the ISHRS has published and maintains the Core Curriculum in Hair
Restoration Surgery, and the Core Competencies for Hair Restoration Surgeons. The
ISHRS also provides annual research grants to relevant clinical research projects directed toward the
subject of hair restoration.
The ISHRS’s pro bono program, Operation Restore, was initiated in 2004 and matches volunteer ISHRS
physicians with prospective hair restoration patients suffering from hair loss as a result of trauma or disease
who lack the resources to obtain treatment on their own. The program has provided over $400,000 USD of
free surgery and travel expenses.

MANCHESTER

A city of opportunitues, and a place both to learn and enjoy yourself, Manchester is a
trendsetting music and style capital. It’s illustrious past is evident in trademark Victorian
buildings and monuments, such as the gothic Town Hall in Albert Square. However the
dramatic mix that makes Manchester such a thriving metropolis combines new imaginative
buildings with traditional street markets and old pubs to give this city a unique energy.
