Natural
Hair Restoration
Natural hair restoration today is the result
of an evolution of technology and aesthetics
that has occurred since the 1930s. Simply
put, there is not another permanent cosmetic
procedure that can make you look younger.
In order to achieve a result that is completely
undetectable and unique to each patient, a
variety of factors are essential. This includes
staff training, experience, technology, attention
to detail, passion and most importantly,
aesthetic perspective.
How Important is Aesthetic Design
in Facial Framing and Hair
Restoration Design?
days and by one week the redness disappears and
transplanted hairs will last for about 4 weeks until
they shed.
Our philosophy of aesthetic design is based upon many
artistic and mathematic principles, dating as far back as
the pyramids. In fact, Phidius used these artistic principles
to create the faces of the statues in the Parthenon, while
Plato considered PHI and Pi to be the two most important
numbers in the universe.
Growth begins at 8 to 10 weeks and transplanted
hairs will grow about one half-inch per month for
the rest of your life! Full maturity of the session takes
about 12 months.
Simply stated, if a Golden Rectangle is placed over
someone’s face, when an individual has no hair loss at all,
the center of the rectangle is between the eyes, making
them the main focal point of the face. As we experience hair
loss the focal points move away from the eyes to the area
of recession. Therefore, our goal is to create a restoration in
a three dimensional perspective that moves the focal point
back to the eyes and away from the area of recession. In
other words, we do not want anyone to even look at your
hair, but rather focus on your eyes.
Our aesthetic design principles have been published in
numerous medical journals in the United States and in
Europe. In addition, many experienced hair restoration
surgeons around the world utilize these principles today.
What is the “State-of-the-Art” in
Hair Restoration Today?
Microscopic Follicular Unit Transplantation is a state-ofthe-art procedure, which our team has performed since
1994. The procedure requires the use of high-powered
microscopes to dissect the natural “family-units” of
one, two and three hairs. Other clinics may claim to be
using this method, but if they are not using microscopes
they are not doing Follicular Unit Transplantation, but
rather an older, less refined procedure called Micro
Mini Grafting.
Since you can see ten times better with microscopes,
microscopic dissected grafts are the only grafts that
should be utilized for the hairline. These grafts enable
us to refine any areas of the face such as the peaks,
temples and sideburns. And since these finer grafts
require less metabolic demand, they even allow us to
grow hair in areas that have scars.

What is a Mega Session?
A mega session is any session involving over 1,000
grafts. Our average session is 1,500 follicular units or
about 3,000 hairs and our largest session is over 2,000
grafts or about 3,500 plus hairs.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
The degree of hair loss, hair characteristics and desired
density will determine the number of sessions. Our goal
is to do the least number of sessions and ideally we can
create a natural hairline in only one session.

Is the Procedure Painful?
As an elective cosmetic procedure, it is essential to
ascertain your goals and expectations. To design a
restoration that will be unique to you, we suggest a
complimentary consultation with Dr. Greco to answer
all of your questions and concerns.
No. Local anesthesia is used to anesthetize the area and
there is almost no intra-operative pain. Patients can expect
some mild incisional pain or numbness in the donor site the
first few days, but normal daily activities can be resumed
the day after the procedure.
What Will I Look Like Afterwards?
Patients generally will go home without bandages and are
instructed to shampoo gently the following day. It looks
like “sunburn with hair” – a half-inch long for about three
