Rötgen was the first German town to fall to the Allies in World War II. A little further on the road toward Monschau, are Simmerath and Lammersdorf. Lammersdorf, like Rötgen, where not defended by the Westwall, but Simmerath and the Kaltalsperre were! The obstacles represent dragon's teeth which the online game does not YET recognize! The plan for breaching the Siegfried Line or "Westwall" was simple yet perhaps not the best. The infantry, supported by direct tank fire, would move through the dragons' teeth (Full of barbed as anti-personnel defense) and secure the high ground beyond. Next, the engineers would breach the obstacle line with demolitions and the tanks would follow through. Perhaps you will have less losses if you send the engineers first? The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest will be history. Briefing Axis Player: Take 5 Command Cards. Allied Player: Take 5 Command Cards. You move first. The Germans must hold onto the"Westwall" at all cost. The Allies must knock-out the 88 millimetre guns in the bunkers, if they hope to pass on the road to Aachen and/or The Hürtgen Walld. The many mine fields must also be breached. Conditions of Victory Simmerath Village, Kalltalsperre, and the two roads are Temporary Medal Objectives for the Americans.
