SunPeople shines on LaGuardia

What would happen if the Sun refused to shine? The people who saw this contemporary African tale found out on
February 22.
King Askia Musa and the citizens of Songhay were left in
the dark when the Sun refused to shine. The citizens of
Songhay looked to their great King to answer their problem.
King Askia, realizing the problem was too great for one
man, placed a call throughout the land, he summoned the
wisest people known for a solution. The wisest people in the
land came from far and near to solve the problem. The wise
people who came had no answer, so King Askia banished
them from his royal Kingdom.

In spite of the somewhat simple dialogue, Sun People made
a clear point. External problems stem from internal prO.
blems. When you are able to look within yourself and see the
truth for what it really is, then and only then will your problems have a' way of clearing themselves up. King Askia
looked within himself and found the answer that no one else
could give him.
The Ujamaa Bhick Theatre Company presented SunPeopIe. SunPeople was written, produced and directed by Titus
Walker. This play premiered at the Carter Theatre Friday,
March 7, 1980, which is located at 250 West 43rd Street. It is
well worth $10 a ticket.
The Drama Club sponsored this event and through some
mishap was placed on suspension. I will elaborate on that
matter in my next article. Art news is good reviews.
