North America Telugu Society (NATS) A Non-Profit Organization to serve Telugus Dallas-Irving, TX July 4-6, 2013 Tax ID: 26-4194139 NATS is a non-profit national organization for Telugu speaking people living in North America. NATS primary objective is to address the needs and concerns that affect the everyday lives of Telugu people living in North America. The Society will provide needed social, financial and educational support services to the North American Telugu community. NATS Accomplishments Successfully conducted two Sambaralu conferences 2009 - Orlando, FL with more than 6,000 attendees 2011 - Edison, NJ with more than 7,000 attendees Launched NATS Helpline (1-888-4-TELUGU) Helpline support to victims and families in unfortunate incidents Accident and Death Support Immigration Assistance Medical Assistance Domestic Violence Victim Support Launched “Ask NATS Doctor” A permanent free medical clinic in NJ NATS Services in the US Raised and provided services in excess of $500K in value towards AP flood relief activities in 2009. Conducted clothes drives, donated rice, milk powder, ready to eat food, etc. to the flood victims. Raised over $150K in 2010 for Sri Ramana Maharshi Academy of Blind. Provided financial support in excess of $60K to Ms. Archana who was paralyzed waist down in a car accident. Immigration and legal assistance to Tri -Valley University students. Balala Sambaralu events with competitions in Telugu vocabulary, music, dance and essay writing. Tax prep seminars for individuals and small businesses. Free educational, career, technology, health seminars and medical camps across all major cities. Food drives for Salvation Army and local food banks. Cultural and literary events. Drinking water projects in various locations in AP state. Fluorosis eradication programs in Srikakulam district. Financial assistance to local NGOs for welfare of children and women affected with HIV/AIDS. NATS initiative to eradicate polio along with Rotary Club and Melinda-Gates Foundation. How Can you Help? Among Indian Americans, 72.3% participate in the US work force, of which 57.7% are employed in managerial and professional specialties. According to the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, there are close to 42,000 Indian American doctors. Indian Americans have the highest household income of all ethnic groups in the United States. Telugu Community in the US Telugu is the second most spoken language in India and is the largest ethnic group among Indian Americans. Telugu population in US accounts to about 1 Million people with significant populations in all major cities. Advanced education; preservation of culture, language, traditions, strong family values and entrepreneurial spirit are some of the core strengths of the Telugu community. Telugu Community in India Telugu language primarily spoken in the state of Andhra Pradesh, is the third largest language with more than 80 million native speakers worldwide. The state of Andhra Pradesh situated on the country's southeastern coast has a GDP exceeding $100 billion. Its capital and largest city Hyderabad, is home to one of India's largest IT hubs. Major corporations such as Microsoft, Bank of America, IBM, Oracle, Dell, Google etc. have offices in Hyderabad.
