z Międzynarodowego Trybunału Sprawiedliwości ds. byłej Jugosławii, w któĘ
Trybunał
zwraca się do państw członkowskich z propozycją nominowania grupy lekarzy (specjalistów z zakresu
arteriologii, kardiologii lub neurologii), którzy mogliby przeprowadzaó badania osób osadzonych w
jednostce więziennej ONZ.

The luternational Tribunal is seeking medical specialists in the tjeld of ańeriology,
neuTotogy antl cardiology who are willing and availablę to examine individualS
detained at the United Nations Deteritioir Unit in Scheveningen ("L[NDU") as
indeperrdent experts in the forthconring weeks, Subject to tlre approval of thg Bureart
of Judges on the International 'l'ribunal, the experts would be added to the list of
medical experts maintained by the Registry, and may also be contactęd tbr filture

The examination of a detainee by an independent expeń is undertaken only iflordered
by a Chamber in accordance with Rule 74bi:ł of tlre lnlernational Tribunal's Rules of
piocedure and Evidence. ThB oxamination typically takes place on the premises of the
LINDU, with medical assistance required being provided by medical staff of the
LNDU Mędical Unit. On conrpletion of the exarnination, the expeń is usually required
to prepare a nredical repoń addressing thę issues requested by tlre Chanrber that has
ordered the examination. The repoń shorrld be provided pretbrably in English or
'fribunal. The date by

The expeńs ar€ rgnunerated on an hourly basis, for thę examination of the detainee
and for preparation of the report to the Chamber. Costs of travel to and t'rom the place
of examination, and Daily Subsistence Allowance for the experts are coveręd by the
lntęrtrational Tribunal in accordance with prevailing Ulrited Nalions policies zurd
regulations. Interpretation §ervices, where necessary to enable communication
between the expert and tlre detainee, are also provided,
The International Tribtrna| kindly enquires whether the Ernbassy would be in
a
position to provide the lnternational Triburral witlr a list of medical experts in the field
of arteriology, neurology and cardiolggy. The list should be provided together with
detailed curricula vitae of the exp€ńs and their contact details. As the need for
specialists in the aforemcntioned fields of expeńise is imnrinent, the Intęmational
Tribunal would be grateful to receive a response from tlre Enrbassy at the earliest
convenience,
