Back to School
Student are back in school… and so are we! Academic Advising picks back up this month!
We look forward to seeing you all at your home schools. Remember to start the school year
on a good foot by being the best student you can be. Work hard, establish good study skills
and time management now, so you can continue the positive momentum throughout the
academic year. Need help with study skills and time management, make sure to attend our
first Saturday Session!
Saturday Sessions
Saturday Sessions will start back up in October. Here is a run down of topics for the first part of
the academic year…
OCTOBER - 10/13/2012
Skills for Academic Success - A representative from Advising Services at Columbus State
Community College will be with us to share helpful study skills and time management tips. You
will not want to miss this session — it’s a must for all Upward Bound students!
NOVEMBER - 11/10/2012
The Ohio State University Upward Bound Program will be joining us for this session which will
focus on Teen Dating Violence Prevention. This session will be facilitated by Christina Wilson
from The Center for Family Safety and Healing.
DECEMBER - 12/15/2012
We will be joining The Ohio State University Upward Bound Program at COSI. We will watch a
movie when we first arrive and then have plenty of time to explore various exhibits. Please
notice, this Saturday session will take place on the third Saturday, not our standard second
Saturday of the month. The ACT will take place on the second Saturday and we didn’t want to
exclude any students who may be taking the ACT.
