MICHAEL JOYCE
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Joyce is a career musician and songwriter. He’s
performed and/or recorded with dozens of legendary artists, including the fabulous Roy
Orbison, Roger Miller, Brenda Lee, Vince Gill, Roseanne Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank
Williams, Jr, John Hiatt, Tanya Tucker, Jimmy Hall and Joel Sonnier. Currently he is
touring with the phenomenal Delbert McClinton.
An active member of Nashville’s music community for more than 25 years, Mike helped
grow Nashville’s now-thriving rock scene, serving as a member/producer of many wellknown Nashville rock projects. He serves on the board of directors of the original Nashville
Entertainment Association. A graduate of the prestigious Leadership Music Program, he is
a member of NSAI and the AFM. He has served as President of the Board of the renowned
Kids On Stage Summer Academy. Committed to guiding the musicians of tomorrow,
Mike taught with Kids On Stage 2003-2013, coordinating its songwriting program in 2009
and 2010, and managed the entire summer program in 2013.
As a songwriter, Mike has had songs recorded by a variety of international, major label,
& independent artists, including Tom Kimmel, the Kinleys, Thompson Brothers and Bering
Strait. His high-charting record “Nobody Wins” was recorded by Radney Foster, and
“Jagged Edge of a Broken Heart” by Gail Davies. He’s also played/charted with Patty
Griffith (Flaming Red CD), and the last recording by the late, great Roy Orbison.
A session Bassist for nearly 40 years, he’s played on demos for Even Stevens,
David Malloy, Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash, Harlan Howard, Curly Putnam, Don Schlitz,
Paul Overstreet, Jan Buckingham, Billy Swan, Spooner Oldham, and many, many more.
Mike has been married to Robin Mitchell Joyce for almost 27 years and is the dad to two
sons and a daughter.
