Your destination wedding

destination weddings
You are considering a destination wedding for many
reasons. It could be the
place that you met, the
place of your dreams or
where your parents got
married.
There are some additional
benefits and attractive
advantages to having a
destination wedding.
1. Family reunions - It’s
hard to get families in one
place at one time. Destination weddings are great for
getting people together for
longer than a day.
2. Seasonal flexibility Destination wedding locations have great weather.
This enables a couple to
arrange their wedding
during winter months without having to deal with the
hassels of a winter wedding.
3. Expense - Destination
weddings provide flexibility
in a wedding budget. Buy
local and save more!
4. Less stress - When you
arrive at your destination
and get that vacation feel,
bridal jitters seem to disappear. Wedding couples and
their families appreciate the
ease of a destination wedding.

destination weddings
When getting married in the
Riviera Maya you can make
your wedding vows legal or
just exchange vows in a
public ceremony.
Your ceremony options are a
religious ceremony, a Justice
of the Peace, an officiator or a
Mayan wedding ceremony
with a local shaman. Some
ceremonies are legal, some
are not. Pick the best option
for you.
Religious ceremonies Playa del Carmen has a
Catholic church overlooking
the ocean. Other churches
are available throughout the
coast that honor a host of
differnt religions.
Justice of the Peace - Legal
(civil)
weddings
are
performed by a Justice of the
Peace on any beach in the
Riviera Maya. Book in
advance and arrive early for
blood tests and paperwork.
Symbolic weddings - Vows
& Mayan ceremonies Some
couples conduct their legal
ceremony at home and then
exchange public vows in
Mexico. You can opt tfor a
Justine of the Peace or have a
cultural ceremony with a
Mayan shaman.

Legal or Symbolic Ceremony

It’s easy to get carried away in
your wedding planning. If you
are hoping for a destination
wedding or have already
decided, remember to keep it
simple.
Throw all wedding must-do’s
out the window and focus on
the elements of the wedding
day that are most important to
you and your fiance.
The natural surroundings of the
Riviera Maya decreases the
need for eleborate decor and
provides all that you need. A
cenote is naturally decorated.
The jungle has more plants and
flowers than any bride could
buy!
Local food is the best way to
keep your wedding simple and
under budget. Mexican cuisine
is flavorful, extraordinary and
exotic. Introduce your guests to
new flavors and watch them be
wowed.
Simplicity is the goal of a destination wedding. Simplier is
better so you can spend more
time with your guests and each
other.

Keep it simple - kiss

Weather at your wedding
destination can bring some
surprising realizations. Here
are some tips to make your
hair, makeup and dress
choices fit your location.
Heat - You have most likely
choosen a destination for
the sun and the beach. Your
dress should be light
weight, your hair pulled
back and shoes are not
required. Schedule the
ceremony for later in the
day when it is cooler. Use
local hairstylists and make
up artists who deal with the
environment every day. Let
your guests know the
average temperature so
they to can choose appropriate attire.
Wind - If you are getting
married on the beach,
expect wind. Make your
decorations simple, wind
resistant and fun. Pin your
hair back so your photos are
stellar and that final kiss is
hair-free!
Use local suppliers. They
know how to deal with and
make great suggestions for
the local climate. Keep it
light, keep it simple and
keep it fun!

Saying i do and looking your best

Your wedding vows are
most important - but the
budget comes a pretty
close second.
Here are the basic items
that need to be considered:
Travel/Accommodations
• travel expenses
• hotel/villa expenses
• reception dinner & drinks
• invites and thank you’s
• travel insurance
• passports
• extra baggage
• airport transfers
Wedding
• photographer/video
• hair and make-up
• music (ceremony & party)
• welcome bags
• marriage legal fees
• officiator
• wedding planner
• flowers and decor
• wedding activities/gifts
• wedding cake
Some wedding planners
have packages to save you
money, or you can source
out each of these items
individually and buy local!
Some couples don’t have
the need for all of these
things. The ocean as a backdrop or a great villa is
plenty.

If your destination wedding
is DIY or organized by a
wedding planner, build in
support for you and your
fiance.
There are various kinds of
help a wedding couple may
need. Here are a few tips to
ensure that both of you are
not the go-to person the
week of your wedding.
1. Book your bridal hotel
room or villa close to, but
away from, the group. This
could mean a villa just for
the wedding party, or
arranging to have your
hotel room on a seperate
floor. As a couple this
provides you privacy and
space.
2. Appoint a family member
as the go-to person who
will answer any wedding or
destination questions.
3. Create a wedding itinerary that is placed in guests’
rooms. This includes scheduled dinners, free nights,
group activities and wedding day timing.
4. Make ‘welcome bags’ that
include all basic items
guests may forget. Suntan
lotion, activity suggestions,
maps, etc.!

Help for the wedding couple
riviera maya

Details are important. Your
careful wedding planning
will get those details sorted
out.
1. Take care of the elderly.
Reserve bottom floor units,
have umbrellas and chairs
at the ceremony. The elderly
can find the beach a difficult place to walk so create
ways to make it easy for
them.
2. Airport transportation.
Find a great company that
can book the airport transfers in advance for all your
guests. This is a small detail
that can make the journey
to your wedding that much
easier.
3. Hydrate, hydrate. Find
ways to remind your guests
to keep hydrated while they
enjoy the tropical sun
before the wedding.
4. Keep your guests
informed. Create wedding
itineraries, social media
updates and a twitter
hashtag for wedding messages.
5. Location details. Have a
cheat sheet for exchange
rates, weather apps, emergency numbers and consulates. Some guests may be
travelling for the first time.

trend that builds a magnificent
