Within the American Southeast
Coastal Plain, one experiences
a fascinating mix of plant life.
Timeless evolution can be
appreciated, whether one
contemplates the large
specimen cabbage palms
or the small Venus fly traps.
This display, a ‘work in progress’,
is being created to demonstrate
a subtropical environment in
which orchids continue to evolve.
As this display matures, a
population of orchids will be
established here. These orchids
will be acclimated to winter
night temperatures in the
mid-thirties (F.)
