How it began: Payne Stewart wins
1991 U.S. Open in Knickers.
When Payne Stewart
fashionably won the US
Open golf tournament at
Hazeltine 25 years ago, he
didn’t know he started a
million dollar movement to
benefit the kids of the Boys
and Girls Club.
How the ball got rolling…
Exactly one year after Payne
Stewart won the 1991 US Open
in a playoff victory, Kingford
Bavender rallied a group of
friends to play a charity golf
tournament dressed in Knickers.
And they raised a few dollars for
a good cause.
2016 is a Special Year
25th Anniversary of Payne Stewart’s
Victory and a $1M goal for the Boys
and Girls Club
First 23 years = $915,000
2016 goal = $100,000
Over the 23 years of the Knicker Open, golfers and
sponsors have contributed $915,000 to programs
that provide food, safety and direction for kids who
are wrapped in the encouraging arms of the Boys
and Girls Club of the Twin Cities.
The kids need your help!
Talented & motivated kids need

lives after graduation.
Its a cutting edge program featuring real-world
