This newspaper is managed, written and designed by fourth
and fifth grade students at Drewicz Elementary School.
We have student reporters, journalists, photographers, and
graphic designers. We are so excited to share our stories
with you. We have spent a lot of time producing this edition and cannot wait to share more!

THE QUAGGA

A Quagga is an extinct animal
from South Africa.
A Quagga is a hybrid animal,
that’s a mixture of a wild horse
and a zebra.
This animal was hunted down for its meat and skin because the skin
was good for making leather by South African famers.
It was more closely related to zebras than horses. The last Quagga
died in 1883 in the Amsterdam Zoo.
Then it was declared extinct in the late 19th century.
We can’t wait to tell you about the Ivory-billed woodpecker.

Drewicz School Sports

Drewicz sports are great activities we have. There
were two basketball teams. The boys had 11 players on
the team. Mathew, Louis, Lex, Jeron, Yeison, Jason,
Hussein, Barry, Donavan, and Jose. The boys won 7
games. The girls on the team were Nadia, Ester, Angie,
Prisila, Kylia, Elvira, Zachary, Angelina, Vanessa, Marina, Siv, Thatiana. The girls only won 5 games because
the rest got canceled due to the snow. Both teams got a
huge pizza party. We also had cheerleaders. They were
Prisila, Samantha, Angelina K, Angelina N, Lessley,
Hellen, Naomy, Nachary, Natalia, Jazmine. The cheerleaders cheered for boys basketball team. They are also
athletic. Cheerleaders are also having a party. Now you
know about some sports at Drewicz.

2014—2015 CELTICS SEASON

As of April 1, 2015, the Boston Celtics are in 9th
place in the Eastern Conference, 3rd in the Atlantic
Division. They are currently 33-41 in the season.
They have a one game winning streak when they
defeated the Charlotte Hornets, March 30, 2015.
They play tonight, April 1, 2015, when the Indiana
Pacers come to town. The Boston Celtics have to
strongly win these upcoming games if they want to
be in the playoffs. If they do, they will face the Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs. The next five games
the Celtics will face teams include the Indiana Pacers, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Toronto Raptors, the
Detroit Pistons, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. These
teams are also looking for playoff hopes. Since the
Celtics have guard Isaiah Thomas back, they still
have a chance to be in the playoffs. As a matter of
fact, a recent poll said the Celtics have 85.34%
chance of being in the playoffs.


Dance Moms also won for best reality show

Best villain was Angelina Jolie. I loved the movie Maleficent so much!

Sponge Bob won for best cartoon

Mine Craft won for best addicting game. For me this
game is really addicting, I play it all the time.

Ross Lynch and Laura Maurno won for best female and
male actors.

Jennifer Lawrence got an award for best female actor,
her song “Hanging Tree” was also a big hit!

Nick Jonas won for best male singer. Selena Gomez
was best female singer.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid won for best book and I agree—
it’s a good book.

Modern Family won for best family tv show.

The Voice won for best talent competition show.
I really love that show and the singers on it.
AT THE MOVIES
Sponge Out of Water

If you want to see the movie then don’t read this!
The new Spongebob movie, Sponge Out of Water,
is an exciting movie where Spongebob and his
friends go where no fish has gone before! They
must go out of the water to retrieve the secret formula from an evil pirate . Spongebob and his
friends get super powers by writing on a page torn
out of a magical book that the pirates stole in order
to take the secret formula. In the end everything
turned out great and Bikini Bottom came back to
normal from the apocalypse.

GEORGE
FIELD TRIP
You might have heard that
grades K—3 went on a field
trip to see Curious George.
Well you’re right! Some
classes even had a count
down until they went on the
field trip. All the students
were assigned partners.
Outside the theatre people
sang and danced to entertain the visitors. Most kids
thought this was a movie
but it wasn’t. This might
surprise you but it was a
play. It had songs that the
actors sang. The actors
really looked like the real
life characters.
It was an amazing day.

¼ cup of chocolate sauce
1 pint vanilla ice cream
¼ cup sweetened shredded coconut
Directions: peel and slice the bananas (make sure
