If power’s your thing, the optional 4.6L V8 is your engine. Variable camshaft timing
and a free-breathing, 3-valve head design enable the V8 to provide a vigorous
292 hp and 315 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s mated to an electronically controlled 6-speed
automatic transmission that delivers peak power when you need it, such as when
accelerating or climbing a hill, and peak efficiency whenever possible. Of course,
the standard 4.0L SOHC V6 engine and 5-speed automatic transmission are also
built to hold their own, pumping out a substantial 210 hp and 254 lb.-ft. of torque.
Independent rear suspension empowers Sport Trac
to tackle rough terrain and uneven road surfaces
with ease. When you need extra traction, turn to the optional Control Trac ®
4-wheel-drive system. It takes you from everyday driving in 4x4 AUTO, to serious
rock-crawling in 4x4 LOW, at the touch of a button.
Trailer Sway Control, new on every Sport Trac this year, works in conjunction with

of hard drive storage. With it, you can store photos for your
“Home” page, and rip entire CDs or just your favorite tracks

the Jukebox function and play songs by simply saying the

even send an e-mail or text message when the vehicle exceeds
your pre-set maximum speed. Early theft detection and stolen
vehicle recovery are also benefits.

A.Sport Trac Limited gets luxurious two-tone leather trim
with heated front seats and a 10-way power-adjustable
seat for the driver (including power lumbar and recline). The
60/40 split-folding rear seat, standard on all models, carries
up to 3 adults and includes articulating head restraints for
outboard passengers. Flip them forward (when not in use)
to open up your view through the rear window.
B.The versatile cargo box’s corrosion-proof, sheet-molded
composite exterior takes muddy trails in stride, while the
dent-proof, scratch-resistant, molded inner liner withstands
the worst. Up to 37.5 cu. ft. of gear fits inside, where you’ll
also find a power point to supply the juice for any of your
tools or toys with a compatible adapter cord. You can use
the special notches inside the box to create tiered storage
perfect for carrying sheets of plywood.

C.The cargo box holds another 6+ cu. ft. with the optional
cargo cage bed extender in place and the tailgate open. With
the tailgate closed, the extender works as a partition.
F.Sport Trac makes securing your gear a breeze with a total
of 10 integrated tie-down hooks on the cargo box, including
3 of these beefy cleats down each side of the exterior.
D.The power-sliding rear window on every Sport Trac provides
access to fresh air as well as to the cargo box.

New for 2009, our SOS Post-Crash Alert System3 automatically activates in
the event of airbag deployment or safety belt pretensioner activation in certain
collisions. The system attracts attention to your vehicle by flashing the hazard
lights and sounding the horn. Our AdvanceTrac® with class-exclusive 4 RSC®
(Roll Stability ControlTM) is the industry’s only electronic stability control system
with 2 gyroscopic sensors, one of which is a unique vehicle-roll motion sensor.
This sensor directly measures the roll rate 100 times every second. Working in
conjunction with the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), traction control and yaw
control, the system automatically determines when and how to apply individual
brakes and modify engine power to help keep all 4 wheels firmly planted.5
Sport Trac has received 5-Star ratings in the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s
(NHTSA) frontal and side-impact crash tests
for 2 years in a row.6
Our class-exclusive Intelligent Safety System TM (ISS) is also standard on every
Sport Trac. The ISS enhances your protection in the event of certain frontal collisions
by processing information from its suite of sophisticated sensors and adjusting the
