Fr. Joshua Lee
Fr. Joshua is the Pastor of St. Hilary’s Church in Whittier, CA. He is a charismatic priest and a gifted
preacher. He was a nurse by profession when he received the call to enter the priesthood; responding to the
Spirit’s call, he became a Benedictine monk at St. Andrews Abbey for several years prior to taking on duties
as a pastoral priest with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Fr. Joshua is a dynamic and well sought speaker at
the annual SCRC Charismatic Convention; he is also a spiritual director and a retreat master.
Last July 2002, the Lord effected the healing of a cancer patient at St. Irenaeus Church’s healing mass services through the ministration of Fr. Joshua. Come with your family and friends and experience the anointing healing power of the Holy Spirit.
Divorced & Separated Peer Ministry/Support Group
The Separated & Divorced Group of Saint Linus is a concerned Catholic resource for those suffering the grief
surrounding the end of a marriage/relationship and to promote healing. We offer a safe environment where
persons experiencing a broken relationship may find spiritual and emotional help on their healing journey with
renewed hope. As a peer ministry, this program will help deal with the natural grief process and offer an
opportunity, through God, for turning the paid of loss into an experience of positive growth.
This group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month in the Parish Center from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
For more information contact: Rosa Muro at (562) 485-7689.

Youth Ministry/LIFE TEEN
LIFE Nights are catechetical meetings that immediately follow the Youth
Mass on Sunday evening from 7:15 - 8:45 PM and take place in the
parish hall unless otherwise noted. ALL high school teenagers are invited
and welcome to attend. Those in preparation for confirmation are
expected to attend most nights. Our summer semester is designed to help
teens meet friends, build community and assist those coming into the
process with a smooth transition. Summer is a great opportunity to bring
a friend.
No LIFE Nights for August (See Below for Fall Kick off)
Hey! Seuss is Loose.
Have you got your toothbrush, your towel and your shoes? If you forget your sleeping bag you’ll be singing
the blues! Hurry, let’s go! There’s fun to be had. Teens who sit home will surely be sad. For who knows
the adventure that waits past your door, the future is now, and it’s sure not to bore! All high school aged
teens invited to attend. If they’re in confirmation be sure, you should send. Flyers, and permission slips
available now. Tough to pray? Come with us, we’ll show you how. The fun you will have puts a smile on
your face, get your paperwork turned in, ‘cause there’s limited space. One twenty-five is all you will spend,
investment indeed for a spirited week’s end. Nine 21 to Nine 23, you’re sure to have fun, take a chance,
come and see.
KARIM AT JASMIN
Karim and Jasmin are back! The opera, that is.
Did you know that even Fr. Tony, who had never seen an opera in his life, was raving about the performance on the Sunday after the show when it had its U.S. premiere last June 23rd, at the Long Beach Convention Terrace
Theater?
Due to popular demand, this first original Filipino opera embarks on its U.S. Cities
and World Tour beginning September 21 and 22, 2007 (Friday & Saturday) at the
La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, located at
14900 La Mirada Boulevard, La Mirada.
Both performances start at 8:00 PM.
Ticket prices are $40 and $50. (Part of the receipts will go to feed the starving children in Zimbabwe, Africa.)
For tickets call the MRG Tickets Hotline: (562) 455-7250 or (562) 677-5340.
Important note: subtitles will be made available during the performance.

CELEBRANT:
Fr. Fernando Suarez
Fr. Fernando Suarez CC, was born in the Philippines and was working as a Chemical Engineer when he felt
the strong call of the Lord for him to join the priesthood. He entered the Companions of the Cross religious
community of priests and seminarians in 1985 in Ottawa, Canada and was ordained to the priesthood in Year
2002.
Fr. Fernando had already sensed at an early age God’s call to use him in the healing ministry. While he first
struggled to understand the special gift of healing God had given him, but he came to realize as more people
were healed and touched by the Lord through his ministrations and laying of hands. His gift of healing became
more pronounced after his ordination to the priesthood. In his healing ministry, people are sometime instantly
healed with the Lord’s healing touch.
He spent the first year of his priesthood as the associate pastor of St. Timothy¹s parish in North York, Ontario.
His superiors however, in July 2003, assigned him to a new ministry of healing to help him foster and channel
his charismatic gift of healing to reach a wide range of people.
Father Suarez, when quizzed about his charismatic gift of healing had this to say; “I don’t know anything
about how it happens, up till now I don’t know how people get healed, but I know it’s God,” he told The
Catholic Register. Come, bring your family and friends to experience God’s healing and abiding love in a
darkened world.
