Details: Tour through historic buildings, open May Long Weekend until

FISHING HIGHWAY
Location: Highway 24 between Little Fort and junction with Highway 97
south of 100 Mile House.
Details: This is nearly the same route that the fur traders used centuries
ago. Parts of the Hudson’s Bay Fur Brigade Trail can still be seen near the
east end of the highway and is preserved as a “heritage trail”. For some
115 km along this route there is access to 100+ lakes. Fly fishing, Spin
casting, trolling, ice fishing for trout, kokanee and turbot.

ASHCROFT MUSEUM
Location: 404 Brink St, Ashcroft
Details: This building was built in 1917 and was used as the federal Post
Office up until 1980. Exhibits portray the history of the area and the First
Nations people who were its first settlers.

Location: 45 km north of Clinton on the west bank of the Fraser River
opposite the Indian Reserve community of Dog Creek.
Details: The famous Gang Ranch with its turbulent history was established in

PAINTED CHASM
Location: 15 km north of Clinton and 4 km off Highway 97
Details: Formed by volcanic activity and cared by glacial melt water, Chasm
is a spectacular bedrock box-canyon, 1.5 km long and 120 m deep, featuring

QUESNELLE FORKS GHOST TOWN
Location: approximately 10 km northwest of Likely
Details: In the early 1860s Quesnelle Forks – thanks to its location at the
junction of the Quesnel and Cariboo Rivers – became a center for the
Cariboo Gold Rush. After the mines closed the town was abandoned, and
today, Quesnelle Forks is a fascinating ghost town.

BRALORNE GOLD MINES
Location: 11 km northwest of Gold Bridge in the
Bridge River gold district.
Details: A total of 30 veins were developed at the
mines through a number of shafts and 80 km of
tunnels. From 1928 to 1971, the Bralorne, Pioneer and
King mine’s produced 4.15 million ounces of gold
processedthrough two operations. Bralorne Gold
Mines Ltd. reopened in May 2011 due to high gold
prices, and also acquired all the claims of the Bralorne
King and Pioneer Mines in the Bridge

Historic “uptown” Wells, once a company mining town site for the Cariboo
Gold Quartz Mine (named after founder, Fred Wells), is now a colorful

Head north from Williams Lake on Highway 97 and pass Xatśūll
and McLeese Lake on the way to Quesnel. In Quesnel, turn east
on Highway 26 and pass Wells on the way to Barkerville.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: Quesnel River Walk Trail, Cairns and
historic locations along the Gold Rush Trail, Xatśūll Heritage
Village, Village of Wells, Barkerville Historic Town, Bowron Lakes
Canoeing, Kayaking and Mountain Biking / Hiking Trails.
Head west on Highway 1 towards Cache Creek. From there,
head northeast on Highway 97 and pass Clinton, 70 Mile House,
100 Mile House, 108 Mile Ranch, Lac La Hache and 150 Mile
House on the way to Williams Lake.
In Barkerville, go west onto Highway 26. After 1.5 km, turn
right onto Bowron Lake Park Road and after 400 m turn right
again onto Cunningham Pass/3100 road. After 40 km, cross the
Cariboo River and drive for another 20 km to Ghost Lake on the
left. After 15 km, the road reaches the Cameron Ridge Trail and
passes Maeford Lake on the way towards Cariboo Lake, where it
becomes Cariboo Lake Road/6400 road. This road stays on the
left of Cariboo Lake until it reaches Keithley Creek Road. Turn
left towards Likely. About 2.5 km after Likely, turn a sharp left onto
Horsefly-Likely Road that leads along the shore of Quesnel Lake.
After Mitchell Bay Recreation Site, continue left on the same
road that becomes Horsefly-Quesnel Road near Horsefly. Head
southwest onto Horsefly Road and pass Miocene and Dugan
Lakeon the way south to 150 Mile House. Turn southeast onto
Highway 97 to Lac La Hache.
3. BARKERVILLE > LAC LA HACHE
Head northwest from Barkerville on Highway 26 and pass Wells
on the way to Quesnel. In Quesnel, turn south on Highway 97
and pass McLeese Lake, Xatśūll and Williams Lake on the way
to Lac La Hache.

2. WILLIAMS LAKE > BARKERVILLE
Head north on MacKenzie Ave. and turn left onto Soda Creek
Road. After 15.3 km turn left again onto Buckskin Road and
cross the Fraser River. Hold yourself right while staying on the
left side of the Fraser River and continue onto West Fraser Road
that leads north to Quesnel. On the way, you’ll pass Castle
Rock, Alexandria Indian Reserve, and the “Deserter’s Creek
Trail” with its lookout before the road becomes a main road
again and leads into the town of Quesnel. At the intersection,
head north on Highway 97 for about 5 km before you turn east
onto Highway 26 and pass Wells on the way to Barkerville.

1. KAMLOOPS > 100 MILE HOUSE
DISTANCE: 200KM / TIME: 2 H 30 MIN
Head north towards Little Fort along Highway 5. Then head
west towards 100 Mile House on Highway 24 (The Fishing
Highway). Once getting to Highway 97, you are at Mile 97.
100 Mile House is 4.8 km to the north, 70 Mile House is 36.5 km
to the south.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: Space Module Ice Cream Stand from
Expo 1986 (Little Fort), many lakes and resorts/ranches on
the Fishing Highway, quad & dualsport trails, photographers’
paradise, Lac des Roches (one of the most photographed
lakes in Canada); fishing lodges and guest ranches dot the
landscape, with several also offering RV and camping sites.
2. 100 MILE HOUSE > KAMLOOPS
Head south on Highway 97 towards Cache Creek. Then
continue on Highway 1 through Cache Creek and follow
the signs 4.2 km south to Ashcroft turn off to Highway 97C /
Highland Valley Road. Turn left and head southwest through
Ashcroft towards Logan Lake on Highway 97C. Head northwest
through Logan Lake onto Highway 97D / Meadow Creek
Road. Follow this road over the highway and towards Lac Le
Jeune, continuing on Meadow Creek Road. This will eventually
turn into Lac Le Jeune Road. Follow this road all the way to
Kamloops. Or, if you prefer, merge onto the Coquihalla
Hwy 5 freeway toward Kamloops at the junction of Hwy 5 and
Hwy 97D/Meadow Creek Road.

1. KAMLOOPS > LYTTON
Kamloops > Logan Lake > Ashcroft > Spences Bridge > Lytton > Lillooet >
Seton Portage > Carpenter Lake > Gold Bridge > Bralorne > Tyaughton Lake >
Gold Bridge > Pavilion Lake > Cache Creek > Kamloops
1. KAMLOOPS > LYTTON
3. BRALORNE > CACHE CREEK
Head west from Kamloops and turn south on Highway 5, then
turn off to pass Logan Lake on the way to Ashcroft. Just past
Logan Lake, is the Highland Valley Copper Mine, the largest
open pit mine in Canada. Once at Ashcroft, head southwest
on Highway 97 toward Lytton.
Head northwest on Bralorne Road which becomes first Lillooet
Pioneer Road and then Bralorne Road again. At the western
end of Carpenter Lake, turn right onto Lillooet Pioneer Road
which becomes Carpenter Lake Road. After 72.3 km, continue
onto Bridge River Road and stay on this road for 30.3 km
while the road becomes Moha Road on the way to Lillooet. In
Lillooet, turn right onto Main Street and after 2.1 km turn left
onto Seton Lake Road. After 800 m turn left onto Duffey Lake
Road and head north on Highway 99. After 74.5 km, turn right
onto Highway 97 towards Cache Creek.

(August), Thompson River white water rafting.
2. LYTTON > BRALORNE
Head north on Highway 12 towards Lillooet. Turn left off the
highway on Duffey Lake Road and after 1.2 km turn right onto
Seton Lake Road. After 800 m turn right again onto Main Street.
Follow this street for 2.1 km before you turn left onto Moha
Road and follow the road for 30.4 km. Then continue for 72.3
km on Carpenter Lake Road and Lillooet Pioneer Road. At the
western end of Carpenter Lake, turn left onto Bralorne Road
which will continue again onto Lillooet Pioneer Road before you
have to turn slightly left onto Bralorne Road towards Bralorne.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: TYAX Resort on Tyaughton Lake,
Spruce Lake area mountain biking, horseback riding, Bralorne
Gold Mines.
4. CACHE CREEK > KAMLOOPS
DISTANCE: 150KM / TIME: 3 H
Head west on highway 97 / 1 and turn left off the highway after
2 km onto Back Valley Road. After you pass Cultus Lake the
road will become Deadman Cache Creek Road and eventually
meet Deadman Vidette Road. Turn sharply right and follow the
road back south towards Highway 1. After 4 km turn left off the
highway onto Sabiston Creek Road that heads northeast and
back southeast. Turn left (north) onto Copper Creek Road and
after Red Lake turn right onto Tranquille Criss Creek Road that
turns in a bow back southeast. Turn sharply left onto Frederick
Road and slightly left onto Tranquille Road into North Kamloops.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: Tranquille Farm Fresh.
Head west from Kamloops and turn south on Highway 5, then
turn off to pass Logan Lake on the way to Ashcroft. Just past
Logan Lake, is the Highland Valley Copper Mine, the largest
open pit mine in Canada.Once at Ashcroft head southwest on
Highway 97 toward Lytton.

DISTANCE: 63 KM / TIME: 1 H
Head north on Highway 12 in the direction of Lillooet.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: Spend the day in Lillooet. Xwisten
Experience First Nations tours, Walk the “Jade Walk”
downtown main street, Sturgeon fishing on Fraser River.
Lillooet area was the site of B.C.’s first Jade Mine.
3. LILLOOET > KAMLOOPS
Head north from Lillooet on Highway 99 and pass beautiful
Pavilion Lake on the way to the intersection with Highway 97
and Hat Creek Ranch. Then turn south on Hwy 97 towards
Cache Creek and go east at Highway 1 intersection towards
Kamloops.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: Historic Hat Creek Ranch, visit
old ghost town of Walhachin, golf at Tobiano Golf Resort
overlooking Kamloops Lake.

THINGS TO SEE & DO: Space Module Ice Cream Stand from
Expo 1986 (Little Fort), Fish the lakes along The Fishing Highway,
Quad / Dualsport trails, Hike the Lone Butte volcano plug.
2. 100 MILE HOUSE > WILLIAMS LAKE
Head north on Highway 97 and pass 108 Mile Ranch and
Historic Site, Lac La Hache and 150 Mile House on the way to
Williams Lake.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: 108 Heritage Historic Site, Horseback
riding and golf at 108 Mile, Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin
and Cowboy Hall of Fame in Williams Lake, Williams Lake
Stampede (July 1st Long Weekend).
3. WILLIAMS LAKE > RISKE CREEK > CLINTON
DISTANCE: 238 KM / TIME: 4 H, 30 M (without side trip
to Alkali Lake Ranch which is an additional 86 km in total.)
From Williams Lake, head west on Highway 20 for 49 km, then
turn left/south off highway onto Farwell Canyon Road and go
approximately 32 km, crossing the Chilcotin River. Keep left to
Kamloops > Little Fort > 100 Mile House > Lac La Hache > 150 Mile House >
Williams Lake > Riske Creek > Farwell Canyon > Gang Ranch > Clinton > Echo Valley
& Big Bar area > Hat Creek Ranch > Cache Creek > Kamloops
stay on Farwell Canyon Rd. for 7 km, then turn toward Word
Creek Rd. for 27.5 km. Continue straight onto and follow Word
Creek Rd. for 6 km eventually turn into Gang Ranch Rd. Pass
Gang Ranch and head southeast on Gang Ranch Rd. for 7.3 km,
with a slight right onto Dog Creek Canoe Creek Rd. and
drive 34 km. Turn right, driving 18.5 km toward Jesmond Rd.
Continue on Jesmond Rd. for 37 km. Turn left onto Kelly Lake
Rd. and drive 17 km towards Clinton and Highway 97.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: Historic Chilcotin Lodge, Farwell
Canyon Hoodoos & Pictographs, Chilcotin River, Fraser River,
Gang Ranch.
4. CLINTON > KAMLOOPS
Head south on Highway 97, pass Historic Hat Creek Ranch at
the intersection with Highway 99. At Cache Creek head east
on Highway 1 towards Kamloops.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: Clinton Museum and multiple antique
shops, Clinton Annual Ball and Rodeo (May), Historic Hat Creek
Ranch, Bonaparte Bend Winery & Bistro, Kamloops Lake Lookout.
BACKCOUNTRY GLORY
If your vehicle allows backcountry travel, do it! Hike trail networks in the Big
Bar, Churn Creek and Marble Range areas. Visit hoodoos, mountain bike or
horseback ride in the Junction Sheep Range; home to the largest population
of California Bighorn Sheep in North America!
TOTAL DISTANCE: 580 km / TOTAL TIME: 7 h 15 min
100 Mile House is 4.8 km to the right/north.
THINGS TO SEE & DO: Fish the lakes along The Fishing
Highway, Quad / Dualsport trails, The Lone Butte volcano plug.

Head north on Highway 97 and pass 108 Mile Ranch and

Painted Chasm at Chasm Provincial Park, Clinton Museum.
4. CLINTON > KAMLOOPS
Head south on Highway 97, pass Historic Hat Creek Ranch at
the intersection with Highway 99. At Cache Creek head east
on Highway 1 towards Kamloops.
