Page 2 The carpet project was the biggest project. It encompassed the Main Dining Room, Garden Dining Room, the Ladies’ and Men’s Locker Rooms, the Administration Offices, and the Ladies’ Card Room. After removing ALL of the old carpet, we laid a new floor through out the rotunda and the main dining room on the main level. Then we put down an upgraded carpet to withstand the heavy traffic during our great dinners and parties! You’ll see a big difference in the Golf Shop too! We removed the wallpaper, rearranged the merchandise, and moved the counter to give our members a spectacular view! We painted and did “touch up” to many areas, both upstairs and downstairs. Also, be sure to check out our Champions Wall in the GDR! Mark In July, my wife and I traveled to Wisconsin Dells, WI to celebrate my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. We had aunts, uncles, cousins and close family friends join us as my brother, sister and I took everyone on a dinner cruise down the Wisconsin River. During the same week, I also had time to get visit my hometown of Fond du Lac, WI, visit my alma mater University of Wisconsin-Madison and spend as much time as possible with my nieces and nephews. Fun was had by all. Leigh Mike and I adopted a new Dog, his name is Rerun and you will get a chance to meet him at one of the several Yappy Hours that we have at the club. Mike and I did spend some time at the California Coast, visiting friends (and our rental house) in Texas and then a quick trip up to Oregon, where we did see the Ducks lose a game at home. Overall it was a good summer and look forward a better 2015-2016 golfing season! Tyson Over the 4th of July I took my family back to the Midwest to visit my parents and younger brother in Denver, Colorado. While in Denver we saw fireworks, took all the kids to the childrens museum, golfing shopping and eating. After 4 days in Denver we headed further east to Central Nebraska to visit my other brothers house. My hometown and where I graduated high school. While there we visited the city park where the picture was taken. That was a tree planted in my GrandFathers name, was the first time seeing it since his passing. While at my brothers house, we had lots of BBQ, and several competitive games of Whiffle ball in the backyard. Was a great get away, saw old friends and all of the family. Page 4 AVONDALE NEWS Debi Well, as many of you know I actually DID get a summer vacation. I was off July and August and while I did have some fun, I found myself missing this crazy place! I got to do a little travelling, I finally got to meet my granddaughter in Wenatchee, spent July 4th in Kailua Hawaii, a few days in Maryland helping a friend move and a weekend in Sonoma! Each trip was kicked off with the (now) traditional “Airport Bloody Mary selfie” ... But truly, by the end of August, I was more than ready to get back to work (and on the wagon)! And believe me, there was much work to be done! Ginny “It’s just a big hole in the ground!” … that’s what everyone told us. But neither one of us had ever been to the Grand Canyon before, so we loaded our golf clubs in the car and hit the road. WOW! It was breath taking! Pictures just do not do it justice. We also enjoyed around of golf in Flagstaff and enjoyed the cooler weather! Ernie I ventured up north to San Francisco this summer taking all 4 teenage kids and my wife. We drove up there, enjoyed the cooler weather for the week. We visited Alcatraz, met up with old friends. Caught up on culture and the history of San Francisco. We hung out downtown, ate at the restaurants. We also visited the Golden Gate Bridge. We made lots of memories and took lots of pictures. A great time had by all! As we prepare for the new season I’d like to go over of few of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) score posting procedures. If you only have time for 5-6 holes this score can also be posted by using the “bogie point system”. We have added a new computer in the pro shop for posting your scores. If you are short of time the pro shop staff is more than willing to post for you. We will still have the computers located in the men’s and women’s locker rooms. As in the past we need to sign our card and leave it in the box near the computer. The SCGA allows us to post from our home computers, as well as for the tech saavy from their mobile app. However, the preferred method is to post at the course. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me or any of th ehandicap committee members. The committee member’s names will be posted near the computers. I hope everyone has a great 2015/16 season!
