Dear Guests
It’s been a very long time since the
“Tangerines, our football team, have shown
such early season success in the premier
league and here at the Hotel and in the town
at large, we are sharing similar form, things
are progressing at a steady pace in spite of
the tough economic conditions.
In November 2010, Merlin, owners of
Alton Towers, Legoland and Madame
Tussauds take over the running of Blackpool
Tower. Already planned is a massive Dungeon
attraction in the site of the Aquarium but
don’t worry the ballroom and Circus remain
as ever and “Strictly come Dancing” are filming again this winter. The Headland opposite
the Tower is due to be finished next summer
and will see the arrival of the 1st Wedding
Chapel on a seafront location . . . book early!
Here at the hotel, our new patio has
been well received, particularly in the heat of
May and June. The water feature has been
the source of great amusement to our guests
but great frustration to Kevin the builder as it
takes on characteristics of a leaky sieve once
a month . . . all fixed now!
We completed 4 Sea view Posh Pod
rooms in March this year and as we look
ahead to winter we have plans to enlarge
Jimmy’s Bar and refurbish many bedrooms
not least a complete overhaul of our Club
Class rooms which were created in 2003.
On the entertainment front we have
found some great new acts in Tony Fletcher
with his many tributes, Andy Nolan as Gary
Barlow & Ronan Keating as well as Elgin
favourites returning such as Jean Pasquale,
CJ Tazz & Mike Quinn to name but a few.
For 2011 we have some interesting new
themes with “Murder at Fawlty Towers “ and
our Salsa weekend with tutor Jorge. To make
our weekend even more popular we are
offering guests the chance to win 2 tickets to
Blackpools home football games (details on
page 21).

At the Elgin we know that the hotel is only as
good as its staff and we are very proud of the
dedicated team who look after you before and
during your stay.We continuously appraise
ourselves and look for ways of improving our
skills and services.
The Elgin has ‘Investor in People Status’ which was
recently reassessed with much praise from the
assessor. More recently we have commenced ‘Train
to Gain’ making our team even more customer
focused and giving them NVQ qualifications in
their particular areas of expertise.

THE ROOMS
Being a 1930’s Promenade hotel – in fact the amalgamation
of 4 hotels, each of our 89 rooms are unique. Guests can
choose from 5 room types from a Standard en-suite to a Club
Executive, possibly the best ‘designer’ room on the Prom.
Most room types are available as a Double, Twin or Family.
l Standard and Standard Sea View Rooms
All of our standard rooms are en-suite
some with bath, some with shower and
some with both. If you have a preference
please request at the time of booking.
Naturally they are all centrally heated,
have tea and coffee making facilities as
well as digital TV and radio. Standard
Sea View rooms have the same facilities
but face the sea.
l Superior Seaview Room
These are sea view rooms with added
comfort. Generally larger than a
standard sea view room, many of these
have been refurbished in early 2009.

These rooms ooze contemporary style.
In the bathroom we’ve even heated the
mirrors for you so they don’t steam up
at shower time! In the bedroom there
are 21 inch flat screen TV’s with DVD
players and radios as well as Wifi
computer access. All of this is packaged
with designer soft furnishings and state
of the art bathrooms. Completed for
the 2010 season are 4 sea view posh
pods for you to enjoy.
l Club Class Room
(All being refurbished in January 2011).
Classic contemporary design with all the
comfort and amenities one would
expect of a top class bedroom. Double
beds are ‘King Size’. Bedrooms and
bathrooms are more spacious than
standard rooms. Heated mirrors in
bathrooms. Flat screen TV’s with DVD’s
in the bedroom.
Although not ‘sea view’ several of these
rooms have a side sea view (windows
are 90° to the Promenade).
l Club Executive Room
We are very proud to present you with
what we feel are probably the best
designer rooms on the Promenade.
The ‘Club Executive’ rooms capture all
the classic contemporary design of our
Club Class rooms but they also include
full Sea Views, exquisite travertine tile
bathrooms with space to include bath
and separate shower cubicle.
By the way, there’s even a TV you can
watch while soaking in your bath. The
rooms have DVD and large flat screen
TV’s in the bedrooms as well as Wifi
computer access.
