Midtown Assistance Center Food Drive 30 years ago, Saint Mark joined four other congregations to establish the Midtown Assistance Center, an interfaith nonprofit committed to helping Atlanta’s working poor. MAC assists clients with rent, utilities, food, transportation, and clothing during times of crisis. During July, Saint Mark will be collecting food for MAC’s food pantry. When children are out of school for the summer, parents are left to provide meals for them that they would normally eat at school. As a result, MAC experiences a higher demand for food during the summer months. Please join Saint Mark in supporting this wonderful service to the community. Beginning today, bags with details on the most needed items will be available in the narthex. The items most needed in the pantry include: canned meats (tuna, chicken, salmon, beef stew, Vienna sausage), peanut butter and jelly, rice, canned beans, macaroni and cheese, rice and pasta side dishes, soup, pasta sauce, tea bags/coffee, oatmeal or grits, dry/shelf stable milk, Hamburger Helper, cooking oil, cereal, toilet paper, paper towels, pancake mix, syrup, canned fruits and vegetables. Please take a paper bag, fill it with food and bring back to the church by Sunday, July 31. Drop your donation off in one of the bins in the narthex on Sunday morning or drop your donations off in the church office during the week. For more information about Midtown Assistance Center, visit www.midtownassistancectr.org, or contact Saint Mark’s MAC board representative Roger Brown. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. --Matthew 25:35 Celebrate July 4 with your church family! Come enjoy food, fun and festivities at a picnic at the home of Larry Lucas! Call 770-736-0065 for details. The summer session of our Newcomers class series begins Sunday, July 10. See something around the church that needs maintenance? It truly “takes a village” to care for our campus.
