of entry and a Sixth Form.
As a Catholic school we serve the whole
community of the Borough of Hillingdon
and beyond, welcoming Catholic students
and others who wish to join us.
Our aspirational Head Teacher, Mr A J
Corish, was appointed in September 2015
and is devoted to ensuring the very best
education for every student, with each
individual expected to perform to the best
of their ability.
‘The Douay Way’ permeates the school
day. There is a corporate atmosphere in
which both students and staff know that
they are working towards a common
goal – to better themselves and become
excellent citizens, in a progressive learning
environment which combines traditional
values with the very latest technology and
learning techniques.
Staff are dedicated, motivated and
determined to enable students to fulfil their
potential. All pupils are treated as ‘special’
to meet both the needs of those deemed
‘Gifted and Talented’ as well as those with
Special Educational Needs.

Examination results have been consistently
good in recent years and we intend to build
and improve upon these firm foundations
with outstanding results in the future.
The school is committed to ensuring a
smooth transition from Primary to Secondary
School and from Sixth Form to University.
A programme of high profile interactive
education has been established to initiate
outstanding learning habits from the outset,
complimented by varied extra-curricular
activities. This enhances the development
of each individual student, encouraging
diligence and independent learning.
Curriculum
The curriculum of our school is a reflection
of our school ethos, vision and ambition.
The Douay Way is to seek to educate the
whole person and to support all students
and develop resilient hard working ‘can
do’ young people. We seek to do this by
offering a broad, balanced and challenging
curriculum for Years 7 to 13. All students
follow a core curriculum in Key Stage 3
and 4 which includes Religious Education
and what are sometimes called the Ebacc
subjects. In addition students study a range
of technological and creative subjects as well
as physical education. In KS4 students are
guided to choose from appropriate pathways.
The post 16 curriculum is based on the

Sitting alongside this are a series of
‘Deep Learning Days’ which enable
students to engage with a range of personal
development, cultural and problem solving
activities appropriate to their year groupings.
Sixth Form
‘The Sixth Form is good. Students make

teaching and a curriculum which is
appropriate to their needs.’

Our Sixth Form offers a full range of
AS and A-level subjects with the majority
of students going on to higher education
courses at university. Our highly qualified
and experienced Sixth Form tutor team
provides educational, personal and careers
support in partnership with students.
Students wear business dress and enjoy
a wide range of extra-curricular activities,
visits and presentations. In the Sixth Form
there is also a Student Leaders Group
including a Head Girl and Head Boy, and
a number have been successful in seeking
election to the National Youth Parliament.
Extra- Curricular Activities
We believe extra-curricular activities play
an important part in discovering talent,
developing confidence and building selfesteem. These activities form part of the
‘growth mindset’ of the school. We offer a
wide range of activities to appeal to different
students such as participation in the Duke of
Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, overseas visits,
sports and drama including an annual school
production, regular concerts and visits to the
Royal Ballet. All students are encouraged to
participate in, and contribute to, school life
outside of their academic studies.
Links with Oxford and Cambridge and
Royal Holloway University are firmly
established and a number of visits to each
take place during the academic year. The
school participates in the Sutton Trust
Summer School Programme as well as the
National Citizenship Service Programme
which helps to enhance student learning and
self-development. We are also proud to be
part of the Jack Petchey Award Scheme.
Students have the opportunity to compete
against each other in the new House System
in which they are rewarded for effort and
achievement. The establishment of the four
new Houses: namely Mathew, Mark, Luke
and John – enhance community spirit as well
as a competitive ethos. Each house has a
distinctive colour, logo and motto that defines
its culture and esprit de corps.

Our Catholic ethos permeates all aspects of the school, both academic and pastoral, reflected in the motto ‘Through Faith to Success’.
Celebration of the Eucharist at Mass in the School Chapel is a central facet of the religious life of the school. ‘Joyfully inclusive’ we
welcome students from other faiths who are accepted equally as part of the whole school community. All pupils take part in activities
outside of school to reinforce their faith and extend their educational experience. To encourage understanding of other religions we
organise regular visits to different places of worship.
All students undertake fundraising activities for
a range of charities as learning to think about
others and supporting them is fundamental to
the education we provide. Our students are
involved in an extensive range of community
services to others, including raising money each
year for school nominated charities. We have
an outstanding pastoral system which operates
a “Walk with me” mindset - walking with
individuals and families on their life journey.
All students in Years 12 and 13 take part in
a community service project called “Faith in
Action” and each year a number take part in a
pilgrimage to Lourdes, working with people who
have additional needs.
