2017, the Denplan Ski Conference features six days
of fantastic skiing, masses of après ski, as well as
fascinating daily clinical seminars in the superb 4*
Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl.
This fabulous hotel is positioned right in the heart of the idyllic
resort of Obergurgl, Austria; 1930 metres above sea level and one
of Tyrol’s most beautiful Alpine villages.
Surrounded on all sides by a magnificent mountain panorama
formed by 21 peaks over 3000m altitude, Obergurgl is a stunningly
picturesque village with a rustic and charming ambience – and
also a selection of traditional après ski bars which you may well
get to know very well throughout the week!
The hotel has ski in/ski out access to some stunning skiing for
all levels, with the main lift for the village directly outside the
hotel. Your lift pass will also cover the Hochgurgl area which is
connected to Obergurgl via the Top-Express Gurgl lift.
Obergurgl: The facts
The gondola only takes nine minutes to connect you,
giving you even more piste to explore, including the
mogul slope at Top-Wurmkogl if you dare!

Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl
At Denplan we pride ourselves on the quality of our venues and the
Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl excels with its high standards of cuisine
and service. Owned by the Scheiber family since it was built in
1889, the hotel has a fantastic prime location right next to the
Gaisberg and Rosskar ski lifts, so you can be first on the slopes in
the morning and come the afternoon, just step out of your skis and
on to the terrace for an après ski drink!
Once you have returned from the slopes you can then either retire
to your cosy bedroom, or relax in the Glacier Spa an oasis of
1200sq metres of saunas, steam rooms, fitness suite and indulgent
treatment rooms, to soothe aching muscles and ready yourself for
the next day’s adventures.
Each day will include:
Meals: Hot and cold buffet breakfast, four course evening meal
with a choice of main and a daily salad and cheese buffet
Conference lecture: If you are a clinical delegate, there will be an
hour’s lecture every day, with lecturers Louis Mackenzie, Henry
Clover, Catherine Rutland and Leo O’Hara.
The Work Bit: Daily Clinical Lectures
As this is a Ski Conference, we do unfortunately have to take you off the slopes for
an hour a day to attend CPD lectures on a range of topics (including two subjects
from the GDC’s recommended list). GDC registered delegates will be able to claim
up to six hours of verifiable CPD for the week.
Lecturer profiles
Louis Mackenzie
Now a Ski Conference regular, Louis is a Denplan GDP working in Birmingham and
is a clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry. He describes
his lecture style as relaxed, his approach to après ski as extreme and his skiing ability
as dependent on how extreme the après ski was!
Catherine Rutland
Catherine is joint principle in her own practice in Berkshire with her husband Robert.
She also works for Denplan for up to four days a week in Winchester as Senior Dental
Advisor. She knows that even thinking about anything legal can cause a dentist to
want to throw themselves off the top of a very nasty black run but promises she will
make you feel like you are on a lovely blue!!
Leo O’Hara
Leo is a popular Denplan Ski Conference regular and is a GDP with a special
interest in Orthodontics and Sports Dentistry. Leo works in mixed practices in
Gloucestershire and Central London, has been a Denplan member for many years
and is in his 16th year as an FD trainer!
Henry Clover
Special guest Ski Conference lecturer is Denplan’s Deputy Chief Dental Officer Henry
Clover. Henry is a keen skier, a former GDP and is one of the most experienced
members of Denplan’s Executive Leadership Team. Ski Conference delegates will be
treated to practical tips for a successful Denplan practice.

*As we are such a large group, the
hotel can only offer us a limited
number of standard twin/double
bedrooms, therefore these are
available on a first come first served
basis. Once these are booked, guests
wishing to attend must pay the
bedroom upgrade supplement of
£50 per person or £75 per person
for a suite.
**Due to availability at the hotel we
unfortunately have only 4 standard
single rooms available to us. If you are
planning on attending on your own,
we may be able to pair you up with
someone in the same situation. Single
supplements are no longer available
on twin rooms.
Non clinical delegates pay the same
rate as the dentist, and are also
entitled to a free lift pass (where
applicable). A discount of
£130 for the conference
rate will be deducted
off your booking.

The flight supplement for all flights has been included in the basic
cost of the trip so there is no extra to pay on any flights. It will be
your responsibility to arrange transport to and from your chosen
UK airport. 20Kg of luggage is included. Ski carriage is £48.
Airport Accommodation
We have organised accommodation and parking rate with hotels
at our chosen airports for you to book the night before your
departure. This will include bed and breakfast accommodation and
eight day’s parking. We will book this on your behalf but must be
paid directly to the hotel on arrival.

The Small Print!
1. This event is subject to availability, numbers are
strictly limited and are on a first come first serve basis.
2. Standard rooms are limited, all remaining room
upgrades carry a £50 - £75 per person upgrade fee.
3. As places are strictly limited, no provisional bookings
can be accepted. Deposits can be paid by monthly
report or you can request an invoice. Bookings will
only be accepted with a deposit of £200 per person.

any liability for the
changes or costs
incurred as a result of a
flight or accommodation
amendment.
4. Your conference fee will be calculated by totalling all
Denplan patients registered at your practice at the
time of booking.
9. Denplan strongly advises
that you purchase adequate ski
insurance immediately on booking the Denplan
Ski Conference and cannot accept any liability
for consequences as a result of cancellation, lost
or delayed baggage, injury or illness during the
conference.
5. If you, the conference attendee, wish to cancel your
place(s) then the following charges will apply:
10. This dental conference is designed for Denplan
member dentists and their spouse/partners.
a. 100% of the delegate rate will be charged if cancelled
less than 90 days before departure.
11. If Denplan cancel the conference for any reason,
your payment will be returned less a 10%
administration charge.
b. 50% of the delegate rate will be charged if cancelled
less than 180 days before departure.
6. Deposits are non refundable.
12. Denplan reserve the right to refuse any booking, for
any reason.
7. Full payment must be made before 1st October 2016.
