It’s that time of year again, when the leaves
change color, the cold sneaks in and the snow
begins to fall. It’s also a time to enjoy your
recreational needs in a fun and deserving way.
Take in the changing fall foliage in our parks
and when the snow flies, come rent snowshoes
and trek around our scenic trails. If outdoor
activities aren’t what you are looking for, we
have many indoor activities as well. Remember
that every activity you participate in brings
lifetime memories for all.
Check out the brochure on our website

Playground Safety
Reservations of park facilities are available at the Community Center. Some shelters in Krouskop Park and North Park
will be on a first come, first serve basis. Park Hours are from Sunrise to 12:00 Midnight.
Each year, more than 200,000 children visit hospital emergency rooms because of playground injuries. Many more
do not receive medical attention. Approximately 15 children die each year because of playground injuries.
For more information on how to reserve a shelter, please call the Parks, Recreation & Grounds office at 608-647-8108
ex. 1, Monday-Friday or go to www.activityreg.com to register online.
Many playground injuries can be prevented. As a parent, what should you do to prevent injuries?
1. Supervise- Do not send your younger children to the park by themselves. If you see older children
causing a safety problem, either ask them to stop or call the park office or the police.
2. Do not allow your children to play with ropes or have strings attached to their sweatshirts or jackets.
3. Have your children play on age-appropriate equipment.
4. Do not allow more than one child at a time on a swing or slide.
5. Do not allow your children to go up slides, someone may be coming down.
6. Don’t teach your children bad habits on the playground.
7. Report any unsafe conditions to the park office.
What do we do to prevent injuries on our playgrounds?
1. Every week, our playgrounds are checked intensively for mechanical problems, such as:
a. Worn out chains and S-hooks.
b. Vandalism
c. Worn surfaces
d. Insufficient surface material
e. Trash or glass on playground
f. Any situation that would be harmful to children
2. Every day, we check to be sure that our playgrounds are safe for our kids.
3. We are also trying to replace all the older equipment with new equipment that passes code.
4. We will have a playground safety program that we will be offering to first graders in our area schools.
Shelter Usage: All monies go towards Parks and Shelter improvements.
