3 nights at Pine Ridge Condos
Back by popular demand and just across the street from the lifts and the heart of the base area. Breckenridge
is an authentic 136 year old mining town. Its four peaks are flat on the fronts and steep on the sides. The
runs spread down to the broad face of 10 Mile Range with miles of green circle comfort skiing below and over
700 acres of open bowls and steeps above the timberline. The broad tree lined runs are great for beginners
as well as all level of skiers. In town, there are boardwalks, brightly painted Victorian homes, boutiques,
restaurants, galleries and nightspots by the hundreds. Our two bedroom, two bath condos give ski-in, ski-out
convenience on the Four O’clock ski run.

As I see it, the purpose of Tulsa Ski Club is to
provide ski opportunities and create interest in
snow skiing. We also organize other social and
recreational events.
We are trying to reach people and families
interested in fun opportunities to learn and
improve their snow skiing. The club is not solely
for advanced skiers.
TSC was chartered for those purposes by IRS in
1963. We are a non-profit corporation, but we
have corporate operating expenses. Our trips
are priced to break even with those expenses.
To accomplish our mission, we provide Kincaid buses because their ‘booth and
bunk’ system is the best. They have tables in each booth for games, reading, or
socializing. These sleeper buses save daytime hours as they drive through the
night after bunks are in place.
Other charter sleeper buses do not have tables, and all seats face forward like
an airplane. On these other buses, the aisles seem narrower because of the chair
uprights. If you’re in the aisle it’s hard to visit someone without your butt being in
someone else’s face. So, Kincaid’s arrangement makes everybody happier. Plus,
with Kincaid, we can look forward to newly patented bunks later this ski season.
Please join us for some ski trips this winter. We’re signing up right now.

Cross Country Skiers Unite
If you are interested in banding with other Tulsa skiers who are
interested in Cross Country Pleasure skiing on any one of our
regular ski trips, please notify us of your interest immediately.
The ski trips are filling up right now.
Sporting Clay Shotgun
Event Combined with Side
Trip to Fabulous
Sandstone Gardens
We are trying to determine interest in traveling to SE Kansas
for Clay Pigeon shoot. Claythorne Lodge is offering Sporting
Clays, Skeet, and 5-Stand shoots. We will provide rudimentary
instruction to beginners, including dependents, or spouses.
Combined with that, we propose a day trip to sw Joplin (30
minute drive) to the new SandStone Gardens, a huge, wonderful
outdoor store featuring large and small statuary, plants, and
gardens. They also serve lunch on premises.
This could be planned as a one day trip, but several have
mentioned interest in overnight cabins or tent camping, with a
big country breakfast before returning to Tulsa. If there is interest
in overnight, it would include an afternoon Happy Hour,
Brisquet dinner, and a dance or social evening.
Most likely will be held on a Sat/Sun in May/early June,
2008. Carpooling for the two hour drive from Tulsa has been
suggested, to save bus costs.
Any ideas, opinions, and your interest is requested so we may
know how to best plan this event. To express interest or ideas
please call immediately. Costs will be moderate, depending
on activities individually chosen.

Annual Sign-up Picnic
“We are fam-i-ly… I got all my
sisters with me…” Isn’t that a
line from an old song?
WOW!! In case you missed
it, the Sign-up Picnic was a
great success! 170 people
attended, and both members
and guests had fun meeting
old and new friends, eating
hotdogs, homemade salads
and baked beans. Laughter
and good-natured bantering
filled the room similar to a
family reunion. People were
overheard swapping a few
tall tales and making plans for
joint travel. “Ski Bucks” were
won by Trey Sophy,
Megan Hegenbart, Barb
Constantine, and Stacy
Huckabee. 206 trip
reservations were made for
winter season 2007-8. Many
trips are near full.
Breckenridge has the most
space left, but everything is
filling quickly. Sign-up now! A
great ski season is about to
begin. Join the family!
The success of this picnic was
due to the large numbers of
volunteers. Food was donated
by Barb Constantine,
Jeanean Doherty, Dana
Gray, Terri Lewis, Pat
Vail / Beaver Creek, CO
Elsberry,
Sharon
Polliard,
Lowell
Whitlock, Barb DeLosier,
Shelley Wiltfong, Sunni
Wager, Linda Russell,
Tess Huber, Shirley
Crane, JoAnn Huber,
Lance Agnew, Matt
Moss, and all that wonderful
chili was made by Gay
Sanwick — all 60 pounds
of it!! Many of these same
people helped set up, clean
up, run errands, and serve the
food.
New
member
Beverly Patterson also
jumped in to help serve food
and in that way got to meet
some of the old members.
Robert and Darla Foster
greeted people and signed
them in at the door. Trip signups and set-ups were staffed
by
volunteers
Ruth
Obermark,
Anita
Griener, Elaine Simpson,
Bruce Dawson, Ken
Gowriluk and the 12
captains for trips of the
coming year. Bill Wright
and Gary Cheatham
assisted in signing folks up for
planned summer/fall events.
Jim Constantine is a
wonderful example of how to
move through a room and be
welcoming to all.
At the end of the
day about a
dozen members
jumped up to take
down tables and
stack chairs, taking
an extra step to be
good neighbors to
the Elks Lodge that
consistently treats
us so well. Tulsa
Ski Club runs on the
energy of its
members
who
volunteer in so
many capacities.
Remember to thank
them!!

4 ski days
3 nights at Vail Racquet Club
Gondola from the bottom to the top of the mountain. The
Vail Racquet Club sounds like a nice place If you haven’t
been to Vail, you’re just not cool.
Vail is a big mountain that features a wide variety of ski
terrain. Great shopping in the village. With nearly 150 trails
wrapped around three expensive residential enclaves, this
is the country club of Colorado skiing. People who own
here can afford the very best, and they get it. Manicured
slopes, dining on the slope and even escalators from one
village level to the other. Vail is world famous for shopping
and dining.

4 ski days
3 nights at The Chateau and Three Seasons Condos
4 days of skiing at Crested Butte. It’s a great mountain
with a variety of terrain. The green slopes are fun, and the
left side of the mountain features some very challenging
double-diamond terrain. Lots of great restaurants and
entertainment, both at the mountain base and in town.
Pyramid shaped Mt. Crested Butte looms over Crested Butte,
the last of the Colorado hippie ski towns. The lower front
of the mountain is mostly beginning and intermediate
terrain, while the cliff riddles bowls and faces on the back
side, known as the North Face, test even the most talented
skiers. The pretty Victorian mining town has excellent
shopping and dining.

Don Woolsey is the most experienced trip captain in the
ski club. Make sure you eat at Michael’s when you go.
3 ski days at a great mountain. No snowboarding, just
classic alpine skiing in stunning Taos Ski Valley. Enjoy Taos’
Southwestern hospitality and the great ski area. The
altitude, steepness and northern exposure combine to rival
A-Basin, Snowbird and Mammoth. But don’t be intimidated;
beginners and intermediates do just fine because Taos
also offers groomed cruisers and dry powder. The ski area
has wide trails and sheer valleys facing every compass
position. The Taos Ski School is often rated the best in the
county where lessons are fun as well as instructive.
