short stop at our Keystone hotel where we will be staying for the next 3
nights. This evening we head for the Fort Hayes Chuck Wagon Supper
& Cowboy Music Show. We’ll arrive early so you can visit the “Dances
with Wolves” movie set, tin shop, rope shop or sawmill. Our “western”
dinner is followed by a country music show. (B,D)
Day 3: Fri, Sept 25 Awake early so we don’t miss a moment of
the main event! Buffalo Roundup is held in Custer State Park. Get
ready (camp chairs provided) to feel the thunder as 1,500 head of
buffalo are rounded up and driven into corrals by cowboys, cowgirls
and park staff on horseback and in 4-wheel drive vehicles. We will
enjoy a Corral Lunch with an opportunity for some craft shopping and
watching the buffalo being sorted and inspected by the veterinarians.
We drive through the Park as our wildlife biologist interprets the
area’s eco-system. Visit Mount Rushmore and the museum. Return
to your hotel to rest, giving you some time to look around and choose
a place to have dinner. This evening, experience the patriotic Mount
