One, a Swiss heritage site of national significance, surrounded
by picturesque long-established vineyards.
Another built on an enormous rock on the shores of Lac
Léman (lake Geneva) was originally a Roman outpost, guarding a strategic road between Alpine passes, still has 14th
Century wall paintings and has inspired artists from Delacroix
to Courbet, and writers such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor
Hugo and famously Lord Byron who wrote a poem about its
dungeon and whose signature can still be seen there!
And the third, also a Swiss heritage site, towers above a medieval town famous for cheese-making overlooking a river valley
between Alpine foothills!
Here we are in the French speaking part of Switzerland where ancient traditions have been carefully upheld and buildings meticulously preserved. This heritage provided the setting
