CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
The process where those “inquiring” about becoming a Roman Catholic are invited to journey with Church members in
sharing their faith, while discerning God’s call to conversion. Please contact the parish for further information.
PARISH MEMBERSHIP
New members should contact the Parish Office to pre-register for an Evening of Welcome at which time the process of formally
becoming a parishioner will be initiated. We receive many requests for certificates of sponsorship for Baptism and
Confirmation. Certificates can only be given to registered members of the parish that actively practice their faith. Members
are those who regularly attend Mass and participate in and support the life of the Church.

OCTOBER 19, 2014 - TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
A NOTE FROM FATHER LEN
MASS INTENTIONS AND SCHEDULE
What part does prayer play in your daily life? In our overscheduled lives, it is important to find time for God. There
are so many ways for this to become a reality that it would
take more than this whole bulletin to address the
options. However, I would like to offer you a few. The
first is easy and effective, the Intercessions Book found in
the narthex.
The prayers placed in this book are
remembered at the weekend liturgies and all masses
throughout the week. Your prayers are joined with those of
the parish each day and is a reminder that you are to pray
for your intention sometime each day. The second is the
Prayer Chain. You can take advantage of this option or
become a part of “the Chain.” If you have a personal
intention for yourself or someone close to you, all you need
to do is contact Doreen at [email protected] or 5342319 x 13 and she will add it to the list. Being a part of the
Chain is an ideal way to ensure that each day you make
time for prayer. You are provided with the aforementioned
intentions and invited to pray for them. It is an effective
way of “bombarding heaven” with your needs and
others. The third is easy and simple. Begin each day with a
prayer, offering to God all your actions and deeds. By
doing this you are less likely to fall prey to anger,
frustration, and fear because you have placed your day in
God’s hands. If you find yourself falling into one of the
previously mentioned traps, all you need to do is stop and
remember that you are not alone. After all, you have God
by your side. Since there are so many other ways to pray, I
invite you to contact either Deacon Chuck, Deacon Al,
Joline Frank, or myself for any further opportunities for
prayer.

FABLES & FAITH: UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL WITH AESOP’S FABLES
Tuesday, October 21 at 10:00 A.M. in Old Church Hall
Fables delight us and teach us the most important lessons about our lives. As this program shows, they also illuminate the
message of the Gospel. You will join one of the leading experts on fables with a 12-part program that uses the fables of
Aesop and others to help you deepen and enjoy your Christian spiritual life. As you explore the fables, you will discover
novel and engaging methods of understanding humility. You will look at the ways in which the Christian life is magnified
by Aesop’s fables, but you will also see how the Gospel expounds on virtues that are sometimes absent in fables.
If you are looking to deepen your spiritual life while enjoying delightful stories, you will love this engaging program.

2014 Bishop’s Annual Appeal
Life-Changing Faith
“Lay people are not merely the clergy’s collaborators, but rather share in the responsibility of the Church’s ministry,” said
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. Through the building of awareness and collaborative relationships, the Office of Parish
Leadership Formation exists to recognize, support and resource the gifts of committed lay persons as well as to educate,
form and empower them to respond to various needs in the contemporary Church.
Your gift to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal helps build strong parishes by supporting this vital ministry.
