Gateway Canyons as a natural first home for curiosity. Launched in 2014, Curiosity Retreats aimed to satisfy the assembly of 70 participants
with inspiring lectures, activities and performances held in the spectacular western setting of Gateway, Colorado. With over a third of our
upcoming retreat booked by returning participants, we look forward to once again hosting this special gathering of curious minds.

For our upcoming Curiosity Retreat, nine new experts or Curiosity Luminaries will bring with them a wealth of experience in topics ranging
from the workings of the inventive mind to the future of our digital economy. In addition to the compelling lectures and intimate breakout
sessions (Precepts) led by world-renowned luminaries like David McCullough and Brian Greene, our Curiosity Retreat participants will be
treated to a host of recreational opportunities. From a First Mammal Tracks excursion to morning and afternoon yoga to evening wine

PRECEPTS
SMALL GROUP DISCOURSE VASTLY ENHANCES THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE. The use
of the word precept references the educational tradition of Princeton University, where the term refers
to a small breakout class led by a teaching assistant following the larger lectures. These small classes
allow students to ask questions about the material and engage directly with each other on the ideas
presented by their professors.

For our Curiosity Retreats, each participant will have the chance to sit down in a smaller group
with one of our Curiosity Luminaries. These precepts allow our experts to interact personally with
participants in a comfortable setting. Each participant will have at least 3 afternoon precepts arranged

as our campus, Curiosity Retreats provide the unique opportunity to connect with great
minds while reconnecting with the natural world. Three months in advance of the event,
our staff will contact participants to customize their retreat schedules. Numerous exclusive
Retreat Activities await their interest: sunrise & afternoon yoga classes, a First Mammal
Tracks excursion, afternoon archery lessons, wine tastings, an evening of guided astronomy,
HD documentary screenings, and the very special Steak Ride or Auto Museum dinner.
In addition to these exclusive offerings, Curiosity Retreat participants will also enjoy
the very best of Gateway Canyons’ first class services. Resort amenities include VIP transport
to and from Grand Junction Regional Airport as well as access to a premium spa, an
equestrian center, a supercar driving program, an off-road racing program, helicopter
tours and a host of other activities from mountain biking to ATV rides. And after all that
adventure, two spectacular pools await the guest keen on simply unwinding and relaxing
amidst the glorious canyon views.

We believe that food creates strong and lasting memories.
Over the course of our 5-night Curiosity Retreat, participants will be treated to fourteen
exceptional menus featuring the freshest ingredients, sourced locally when available,
with innovative preparation and presentation. From sophisticated morning buffets at
our Entrada Restaurant to outdoor cocktails and banquets hosted at our Mission Bell
Amphitheater, we strive to delight all Curiosity Retreat participants with a variety of
culinary options.
In 2014, we surprised and captivated our participants with a range of performances
interspersed throughout the retreat. Our 2015 Curiosity Retreat will likewise feature
“moments of serendipity” in the form of musical interludes, enchanting presentations
and other exhibitions in art and composition.
The goal of both menus and performances is simple: unveil the essence of curiosity by
invoking wonder and inspiring conversation.
