Whether your feelings about the city are defined by one unique experience or by your ongoing relationships with the people and places in Edmonton, we want you to hear the diverse definitions of being an Edmontonian as expressed by different youth perspectives. The entry deadline is February 28, 2012. In each of the Junior High and High School categories, three top entries will be chosen. Prizes will be as follows: ● 1st place: $250 cash prize; tickets to Edmonton's LitFest ● 2ed place: $200 cash prize; tickets to Edmonton's LitFest ● 3rd place: $150 cash prize; tickets to Edmonton's LitFest All winners will be notified of the results by April 2012 and will have their entries published by the Edmonton Journal as well as being honored at an awards ceremony in City Hall in the spring. Only submissions within the limit of 700 words will be considered. Classes are held each Tuesday from 1830 – 2130 hrs. in the new Crime Prevention Unit Training / Resource Centre located at #108-14315 118 Avenue. This class will not focus on any specific community and is open to individuals who have a vested interest in crime prevention and looking to understand more fully the role, responsibility and resources of the Edmonton Police Service and are interested in using the information received through the class in their personal, professional or community work. There is no charge for the class and interested individuals need to be able to attend 11 of the 14 scheduled classes. Class size is limited to 40 individuals.
