FRANCE, Nice, The SDS
The capital of France is PARIS.
The political, cultural and fashion center of the country, its
gastronomy is also renown. The Eiffel Tower is the emblem of
France, and Parisians often gather there for events, concerts and
shows. Two major international airports allow international and
commercial exchanges.

The French people, in spite of a very active life, adore taking time
to go to museums, have a walk, or do sport at the weekend. France
is a laic and very open-minded country. People may seem slightly
grouchy but they are always in a good mood and are very polite.
They also like getting fresh ideas in the countryside to escaping
from the city the time of a weekend.
The Euro is the currency used in France as in most other countries
of the European Union.
The French people like cheese, cold cuts, bread, wine... The good
things! The French gastronomy is recognized throughout the world
thanks to leading chefs such as Paul Bocuse, Georges Blanc or
Olivier Roellinger which is the current patron of The SDS.

The city of Nice is situated in the South of France on
«Côte d’Azur». The inhabitants are called «Niçois».
Nice is very concerned about innovation and the
development of its eco district.
Nice is a city which is at the edge of Mediterranean Sea.
Mountains are less than one hour away by road. It is a
very touristic city where life is enjoyable!
Nice is a city with beautiful monuments and colorful
architecture. «La Promenade des Anglais» attracts
many tourists. This path is more than 7km long! People
like going there, running, eating or simply to look at the
sea.
Finally, Nice is a very young, dynamic city, with welldeveloped transportation lines such as tramway, buses
and an international airport.
Nicois live well, in general, as we reside in an area where it is nice to outside and do outdoor activities. We like to have the aperitif and eat
outdoors, meet friends and enjoy the sun. Walking through the center of Nice is pleasant and the new «green corridor» is a real meeting place.
The bars begin to fill up from on Thursday evenings, as young people often go out that night.

The SDS, values & teaching
Welcome to The SDS
The SDS was created 4 years ago at Nice. The profound changes occurring in the world today require
us to approach innovation in an entirely different, radical way. We are convinced that : design, as
a means of thinking, plays an essential role in new, sustainable innovation for all. This way of
“design thinking” puts the person at the center of the design, with a global and creative
approach dedicated to design scenarios.
“ We are happy to receive students from
other countries” Corentine
“I think that it will be good to discover new
ways of life thanks to the students” Louis
“I don’t speak English very well but I know that
the language will not be a difficulty”Lucie
“I hope that this exchange will be beneficial for the
students as for us” Thomas
“I hope that they will also make us discover
the meals of their country!” Jérémie

& accountability
During the year, we work with major companies such as Renault,
Amadeus or Hermes. These companies propose partnerships
with us in connection with sustainable design. These
projects last three months during which we work together.
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years are mixed: this allows each of us to
contribute our ideas, to share our various experiences. Group
work is essential to the philosophy of The SDS because it creates
a positive, open-minded work environment. Some students are
engineers, others are space designers and this is what makes the
richness of the school. It is the opportunity for you to face the
realities of the world head on.

Coming from different and complementary fields, the
teaching staff is international. Passionate and enthusiastic about
giving their time to transmit their expertise, the educators
take pleasure in accompanying the students to help us reveal
our creative talents and develop a responsible global vision.
The professors are really close to us and they share their
experience with us so we understand the professional
world better.

The Fab’Azur,
is situated within the OpenLoft of the CEEI Nice Côte d’Azur. The Loft is a place where events
are held that favor entrepreneurship, the exchange between entrepreneurs, innovation,
creativity and job creation, which are objectives of the school.
It is a real advantage to be able to work in the EcoLab to shape and realize our ideas. 3D
printers and laser cutters allow us to concretize our projets! It is a very pleasant, bright and
warm living space in which we feel good.

The weather in Nice is hot and sunny most
of the year. It has a Mediterranean climate.
Remember to bring your bathing suit, light
clothing and sunglasses but be careful of
the cold air that comes in winter. It very
rarely snows in the region but in winter,
rain is frequent and the winds lower the
temperature.
Good to know
We are here to help you to find lodging.
If you have family or friends in France, it
would be easier to find an apartment
because you will need a guarantor, to
ensure payment of the rent. If it is not the
case, we will help you in these steps.
To have an apartment, you will need
a bank account in France. It is easy to
open, one, but we will accompany you
to the bank to help you.
Think of getting an international phone
subscription before coming to France,
until we help you to obtain a French
phone number.
During your entrance to the school, you
will have to subscribe to and pay for
the student health service (in case of a
problem, it is the contribution which
allows you access to health care)
