THE HISTORY
Le Couvent des Minimes is located in the village
of Mane, in the Alps of Haute-Provence France.
Built in the 17th century it became a hospice in
1862.
A few years later, a community of Franciscan
Missionary Sisters of Mary made the convent
their home. They cared for both the place and its
residents in a spirit of generosity and enthusiasm.
When not on missions abroad, they devoted
themselves to cultivating the fertile land of the
terraced gardens where they planted fruit trees
and vines. These cultivations provided food for
the residents of the Convent. They also helped the
sisters to recuperate and build up their strength
after returning from tropical countries.
