General Information
Scope of Forum
Chitose Institute of Science and Technology (CIST) has organized international fora and conferences
related to Photonics Science and Technology every year since 1998 when CIST was established. For
example, the 4th International Conference on Organic Nonlinear Optics (ICONO'4) in 1998, the
International Symposium on Optical Memory (ISOM2000) in 2000. The first Chitose International
Forum on Photonics Science & Technology (CIF'1) was held in 1999. Each forum in this annual series
focuses on a specific topic related to photonics.
This year, CIF’8 will focus on optical materials, devices, and systems. Topics include, but are not limited
to:
Optical Materials: Photonic polymers, organic-inorganic hybrid materials, liquid crystals, dyes,
molecular design.
Optical Devices: Optical disks, display technologies, optical fibers, lenses, waveguides, sensors,
photonic crystals.
Optical Systems: Optical systems and signal processing, interconnections, ultra-fast pulse systems,
biomedical photonics and optics, robot vision.
Meeting Venue
CIF’8 will be held at the International Conference Hall of Chitose Institute of Science and Technology
(CIST), which is located in Chitose City, Hokkaido, Japan.
