For applications that require a unique yet inexpensive operator interface that will place your system above the competition, consider the Maple Open HMIs. ® Windows is a registered trademark of the Microsoft Corporation www.maplesystems.com 9 Open HMIs Windows CE Operating System Maple’s Open HMIs are operator interfaces that run the Microsoft Windows® Embedded operating system. The Open HMIs are uniquely positioned in the HMI market, offering advanced features that were formerly available only in full-scale industrial computers. Yet, they are offered at a much lower cost than traditional open platform Panel PCs. Open platform operator interfaces should be considered in industrial applications that require: l l l l Custom software development that runs on the Windows®Embedded OS 3rd party off-the-shelf software with features not typically available in standard industrial automation software Web-based features such as a browser, web server and remote Internet access (JavaScript not supported) Access to a wide variety of peripheral support options such as bar code readers, printers, external memory storage, etc. Windows® Embedded Our Open HMIs offer the Windows® Embedded operating system pre-loaded onto the operator interface. Here are some features to consider: l Less demanding than Windows XP Embedded for hardware requirements l Smaller operating system so less memory required l l 10 High degree of protection since only applications created for Windows Embedded will operate on the Open HMI operator interface Less vulnerable to virus attacks from external sources Hardware Expansion Options With simultaneous support for multiple controllers and devices, full network support, as well as data entry and monitoring from a remote location, the Open HMIs are the perfect communication solution when you want the many capabilities of a Panel PC, but at the price of an HMI.
