Miró Rivera Architects Miguel A. Rivera AIA, LEED AP
Miguel Rivera was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and obtained his Bachelor’s
degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Architecture. He earned
his Master of Architecture from Columbia University, in New York.
In 2005, Miguel was awarded the AIA National Young Architect Award.
Miguel is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and the
Texas Society of Architects (TSA). He has served as chair for the AIA New
York City design awards committee, a juror for AIA design awards in Colorado,
Chicago and Alabama and as a juror for the Bi-Annual design awards for the
Colegio de Arquitectos of Puerto Rico.
Miguel has lectured at The Universities of Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, Veracruz,
Tennessee, Buffalo, Louisiana, Munich and UNAM in Mexico. His work
has been published in several books and numerous publications including
Architectural Record and the New York Times and has been exhibited in Berlin,
Venice Architectural Biennale and at the Hostos Art Gallery in New York City.
Before forming Miró Rivera Architects with Juan Miró in 2000, he was an
associate at Mitchell/Giurgola Architects in New York City (1991-2000), where
he was involved in many award-winning large-scale, institutional projects.

Miró Rivera Architects has emerged as one of the leading new architectural
voices in the United States, quietly creating a body of work that exemplifies
design excellence and that has been recognized nationally and internationally
with over 50 design awards including 24 American Institute of Architects
design awards and the 2008 and 2006 AR Emerging Architecture Award in
London. In 2006, Miró Rivera Architects was awarded the firm achievement
award by the Austin AIA.

The work of Miró Rivera Architects has been exhibited in New York, Chicago,
Tennessee, Texas, Puerto Rico, England, Spain and Germany. Miró Rivera
Architects has been featured in numerous regional, national and international
publications including Architectural Digest, The New York Times, The
Architectural Review and Texas Architect. The firm’s work has also been
included in 23 books including 10x10:3 - (2010), AsBuilt: Detail in Process (2009), Young Americans. New Architecture in the USA - (2007) and 1000 x
Architecture of the Americas - (2009).
