Echo is not just for those who feel called to full-time ministry, it’s a program that prepares them for a life of ministry. The 3 elements of ECHO: 1. PRACTICAL MINISTRY EXPERIENCE Interns will work alongside Bethany leaders in their chosen area. 2. GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT Interns will spend four weeks on a missions experience. 3. EDUCATION Interns will earn college credits through Emmanual Bible College. Get the truth and never sell it; also get wisdom, discipline, and good judgment. Proverbs 23:23 2 PRACTICA L MINISTRY E XPERIENCE Interns will focus their time and creativity, with hands-on opportunities for growth, in the areas of Children’s Work, Youth Work, Worship Arts, Urban Outreach and Creative Media. Students will be coached by and work alongside experienced Bethany Community Church leaders in their chosen area. Interns will be challenged to stretch their skills and faith as they encounter the power of God working in and through them. Each Director will develop a role description specific to the interns under their care and will involve them fully in the life of their ministry. They will connect weekly for coaching and direction. FOCUS ON CHILDREN The children’s work focus will help shape interns not only through teaching children of various ages in classroom settings and lesson planning, but also through the management of volunteers and organizing larger-scale Children’s Ministry events. Interns will have opportunities to focus on a range of children’s programs, such as Sunday KidsZone, BLAST on Wednesday nights or Upward Sports. FOCUS ON YOUTH FOCUS ON WORSHIP The youth work focus equips interns to be well-rounded leaders in any vocation. Interns will be positioned to manage others, organize large-scale events geared towards teens, and mature in pastoral care and leadership. The worship arts focus is designed to empower interns to sharpen their creative gifts in a Church context. Connecting theology and creativity through opportunities, such as music, song-writing, worship leading, visual arts and drama will give students a perspective of worship as a way of life. FOCUS ON URBAN OUTREACH FOCUS ON CREATIVE MEDIA The urban outreach focus cultivates a passion in students for what God is doing through the local church and para-church organizations within the Niagara Region. Interns will partner extensively with Youth Unlimited in caring for the needs of urban families and youth through “The Deck’”’ drop-in centre and their various programs. The creative media focus gives interns hands-on experience with professional church video production, graphic design, marketing and communication, and live event production. Interns will be equipped with essential skills that reach into the media and design industries to bring glory to God. 3 GLOBAL T ENGAGEMEN London, England is one of the most international cities in the world. Echo interns will be enrolled at Emmanuel Bible College (EBC) in Kitchener, where they’ll complete four general education courses that can be transferred to other Bible or Liberal Arts colleges in Ontario. This experience is helping me clarify what I want to do with the rest of my life.” JOSH “Echo is an amazing way to spend a year growing closer to Christ. You have complete creative freedom in the area you choose to serve in. Emmanuel Bible College classes make it easy to work and study at the same time.” JOSH PAT “Sign up! It’s a great experience to undertake and you won’t regret it. It has helped me grow as a person and in my walk with God.” “What I like about the Echo program is its flexibility for a person like myself who wants to be part of something really exciting, but can’t put their work on pause and go away for 6-8 months of the year.
