16 Interns are Here and in the Classrooms!
Interns have arrived and are supporting the exchange of culture and language at our
schools. Hopefully, you met them at Open House or Parent Info Night in your child's
classroom. Look forward to a wonderful opportunity to see them in action at the Fall
Intern Festival on November 19th at EHSI.
EPHS and CMS each have one intern and EHSI has 14, each splitting their day
between two classes. This year's intern group boasts 5 interns from Spain, 5 from El
Salvador, 3 from Columbia, 2 from Chile and 1 from Venezuela. Learn more about

There are several ways you can support our interns during their time with us. A few
needs are:
Winter Clothing - many interns come to us from countries where winter clothing just
isn't necessary! If you are able to donate any of the following items, please drop them
at the EHSI's main office.
• Mens snow boots-size 10
• Womens snow boots-size 8
• Snowpants-womens size XL, mens size L

Intern Transportation
When interns need a ride somewhere, they use the Monthly Driving Schedule to see
if a driver is available to take them or pick them up. There are slots still open… help us
fill ALL the slots by signing up for 2 slots today. (More than one family can sign up for
a slot which is very helpful, especially on weekends!)

On Our Way!
Thanks to everyone who made their annual contributions at Open House and Parent
Info Night, we have almost $22,000 of our $100,000 budget for next year's interns. If
you haven't made your contribution yet, volunteers will be calling with reminders. Or,

Food for Funds – Upcoming Dates
Eating out at local restaurants who donate a percentage of orders to SEF is a delicious way to expand your support
of the intern program - and get a great meal to boot!
The next Food for Funds date is October 5 & 6 at Noodles & Company (between 4-8pm both dates). Find a list of

and keep on your fridge for easy planning! Volunteer opportunities
Fall Intern Festival - November 19
Our interns are preparing great booths full of information about their homelands and will feature food and activities
from their cultures. This event needs volunteers to help make it a success. Sign up for a spot and support our interns

SEF Vice Chairs Needed
The SEF Board does so much behind the scenes to make our intern program work and to provide a great experience
for the interns, the schools and our students. We need Vice Chairs willing to sit on the Board, learn about the
program and support the Chairs with various tasks.
