PICK N PAY EROS RE-OPENS WITH A FRESH CONCEPT
Windhoek, 19 May 2016

Officiated by the Mayor of Windhoek, His Worship Cllr. Muesee Kazapua, Pick n Pay (PnP) Namibia –
subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group today introduced a new Eros store with a concept
designed specifically for the Eros PnP shopper. The 13-year old PnP Eros store was closed on the
29th of March this year for renovations, but is now officially open to the public again.
PnP Namibia Managing Director, Norbert Wurm: “The renovation of this store is linked to a vision – a
vision of uniqueness and authenticity that aims to ensure that our stores are tailored to the needs of
our customers. For the PnP Eros shopper, this store is more convenient, it is right around the corner
from home and due to its location, unique range, trained staff offering great customer service and the
new local, fresh feel that it offers, it will be the shopping destination of choice. Once you step inside
you will realize that our upgraded Eros store comes with an almost revolutionary new concept that
speaks directly to this community. It aims to make the Eros customer feel at home and valued from
the moment they walk in, making it their ‘local’ store.”
The Mayor of the City of Windhoek, His Worship Cllr. Muesee Kazapua, emphasized the important
role played by the private sector, in Namibia’s strive towards poverty eradication. Kazapua: “I
commend the O&L Group for its efforts in contributing to government’s vision. At the end of the day,
the only way to beat poverty in this country, is by taking hands - especially the private and public
sector – in tackling this socio-economic crippler together. The Harambee Prosperity Plan is a great
strategy on paper, but the success of it will come only from us doing what needs to be done. Not only
am I proud of the efforts made by Pick n Pay to contribute to economic growth, but I am also very
happy about their dedication to delivering quality to the Namibian people. I am further pleased to note
that Pick n Pay Namibia has been committed to uplifting the lives of the communities within which
they operate. One of the vivid examples is the donation of foodstuff to the City of Windhoek annual
World Food Day, which we distribute to vulnerable groups. We cherish this partnership and count on
your continued contribution.”
PnP Eros also announced its commitment to the Namibia Children’s Home. Wurm: “While we are
celebrating the re-opening of Pick n Pay Eros, it is also important that we go the extra mile in living
our purpose of ‘Creating a Future, Enhancing life’ beyond the business. For this reason and as
members of the Eros community we hereby pledge our support to The Namibia Children’s Home,
right across the street from here. This home cares for and provides therapy to more than 100
orphans and vulnerable children. We will extend a helping hand to them by donating a monthly gift
card that can be used to buy the goods needed for the more vulnerable children as well as food
donations that will be used to supplement what is already been made available to them.”
Pick n Pay Eros is situated at the corner of Heliodoor and Eros Road.
