SUBWAY’S JARED FOGLE TO MAKE SPECIAL APPEARANCE MARCH 22 AS
TRADERS VILLAGE OPENS NEW RESTAURANTS, FLEAFALL RIDE
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX . . . Traders Village Grand Prairie (TVGP) will celebrate the return of spring
Saturday, March 22, with the grand opening of two new restaurants and the new Fleafall drop ride
that’s sure to produce screams of delight.
Special guest for the festivities will be Jared Fogle, also known as “the Subway Guy,” who rose to
national prominence after adopting a healthier lifestyle by “eating fresh” sandwiches at Subway.
Following a 12 noon ribbon-cutting by the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce, Fogle will sign
autographs and pose for photos with TVGP guests from 12:15 to 4 p.m.
“Subway and Traders Village have a lot in common,” said Tim Anderson, president of TVGP, a megaflea market and well-known landmark in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. “At Traders
Village, you can open a business for only $50; likewise, a Subway sandwich restaurant is much more
affordable than other franchise opportunities. It’s all about free enterprise and achieving the
American dream.”
In addition to the new Subway restaurant, TVGP will open Gary’s Grill, which specializes in AllAmerican Fare. Both of the new dining options are located at the Village Food Court, where clowns
and face-painters will entertain guests from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Not far away, the new Fleafall ride will take as many as 12 riders at a time to the top of a 140-foothigh tower, then without warning send them hurtling back toward the ground.
“Imagine yourself sitting in mid-air with feet dangling and enjoying the panoramic view, then suddenly
accelerating toward earth, screaming all the way,” Anderson said. “After the big, stomach-in-your
throat drop, the magnetic braking system brings you gently back to earth with a big smile and the
strong desire to ride again and again.”
TVGP opened November 17, 1973, and it’s been non-stop bargain-hunting in an exciting and
entertaining atmosphere ever since.
“Saving money and having fun – this simple-yet-very-successful approach has guided TVGP for more
than four decades,” Anderson said. “Payment of a $3 parking fee gives a family access to 3,500
dealers, more than 30 food outlets and restaurants, amusement rides and a year-round array of
special events.”

The inspiration for TVGP came from a flea market in San Jose, Calif. It attracted the attention of
investor J. C. Pace, who began his career in the grocery business and saw the potential of a major
flea market in the growing Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Pace family, which continues to own and
operate TVGP, added a Houston location in 1989 and another in San Antonio in 2011. Since its
inception in Grand Prairie, Traders Village has welcomed a combined total of 123 million guests.
