2.2 TRICAD MS 3D Heating
2.2.1 Piping network calculation with SOLAR Computer
A complete nom. diameter, pressure loss calculation and valve design can be carried out for TRICAD-MS
3D heating pipe networks. The established calculation program SOLAR-COMPUTER heating pipe
network from SOLAR-COMPUTER GmbH is used for the core calculation.
Short description:
A 3D TRICAD-MS heating pipe network consisting of pipes, pumps, valves, radiators, reducers, elbows
is compiled, beginning with the start pipe. Many default values for pipes, valves, radiators, pumps and
components can be automatically taken as a basis. All designations for valves, pipe material, calculation
strategies and other items are so defined that the SOLAR-COMPUTER heating pipe network calculation
can directly process these values. In the SOLAR-COMPUTER heating pipe network calculation, all
transferred values can certainly be modified, but all necessary values are always transferred so that the
network read in can be directly calculated.
Two calculation modes are possible: sizing and recalculation. In the sizing mode, TRICAD-MS does not
transfer nom. diameters to SOLAR-COMPUTER heating pipe network calculation so that an optimum
network is calculated whose nom. diameters and insulation thicknesses can be subsequently displayed in
TRICAD-MS and can be adopted as an option. In the recalculation mode, pressure losses, flow velocities,
heat losses, etc. are calculated, displayed in TRICAD-MS and can be taken over into the data masks.
The results of the calculation can be displayed and adopted into the data masks. A calculation log is
issued by the SOLAR-COMPUTER heating pipe network calculation in a form that is acceptable to the
authorities.

2.4.1 Drinking water calculation with SOLAR computer

A complete nom. diameter, pressure loss calculation can be carried out for TRICAD-MS 3D drinking
water pipe networks. The established program SOLAR-COMPUTER drinking water calculation from SOLARCOMPUTER GmbH is used for this.
A TRICAD-MS 3D drinking water piping network consisting of pipes, elbows, reducers, valves and
consumers (single and mixed consumers) is compiled, beginning with the start pipe (= house water
connection point). The data read in can be subsequently transferred to an ASCII file that is imported from
the SOLAR-COMPUTER drinking water calculation and then calculated. If no nom. diameters have been
exported from the CAD model to the SOLAR-COMPUTER drinking water calculation, SOLARCOMPUTER drinking water program calculates the optimum nom. diameters and transfers these in an
ASCII file to TRICAD-MS. TRICAD-MS can now mark all elements with too large or too small nom.
diameters. The calculated nom. diameters are (as also in the TRICAD-MS heating pipe network
calculation) adopted into the data mask.

2.5.2 SpriCALC: Actual effective area
The IDAT sprinkler calculation has been extended so that area defined by a fence (in which the switchedon sprinklers are located) is now transferred to IDAT as the actual effective area. Here an example:

3.1 TRICAD MS equipment layout
3.1.1 Axial grid with mesh dimensions
Axial grids can also receive, in addition to the XY representation, vertically arranged axial designations, dimensions and
dimensioning lines at the edges. This means that the grids are also visible in printouts of side, front and rear elevations.
If, for example, only the beginning of the longitudinal axis is labelled, only a vertical label is shown at the beginning of the
longitudinal axis. If all 4 axial grid sides are labelled, vertical labels can also be set up at all 4 sides.
If all vertical additional labels are to be created, this must be set in the axial grid definition dialogue or in the data mask.
Each vertical additional label can be shown as a mirrored version. The labels and dimension texts can therefore be read from
the left or right depending on the set view. Example:

3.1.2 Automatic start of the paint layout
If a customer only has one TRILACK licence (and no DCLT equipment layout licence ),
the paint layout program will
be started.
If all DCLT licences are in use, the paint layout is not to be started automatically if the customer wishes to continue working
with the equipment layout.
The software decides in this case, on the basis of the program environment used, whether the paint layout program is to be
opened:
“Is a paint environment set in the Projekt Settings.xml (Application = PAINT) ? ”
 Yes: the paint layout will be started
 No: an error message appears “no licence available”

3.1.3 Read in XML data sets again
If the parameters of XML objects were changed before the placing, these altered data are maintained till the end of the layout
program. To ensure that all original XML object data are reset, the option “Read in the XML data set again” in the object
definition dialogue is clicked. The program then reads again the XML file of the particular object type, e.g. all robot
definitions.
3.1.4 Entry of commas in decimal fields
If commas instead of decimal points are entered, the program automatically corrects the input and sets the text field cursor after
the last character (MicroStation standard behaviour when updating text fields)
3.1.5 Integrate pumps and vessels additionally into Media toolbox
The Electrical, Media toolbox has been expanded by 2 new buttons from the paint layout,

3.1.7 Error in "Store robot" function rectified
Various tools and bases are entered in the robot data sets of the Roboter.xml file. This allows special tools / bases to be set for
the selected robots.
If the user has stored his own robots, the tool/base selection assigned to the robot is not available.
The robot XML file has now been extended by 2 additional folders in which standard tools and standard bases can be entered.
These standard add-on parts are transferred when storing user-robots in the user XML file.

The button
of the Fence, Partition-wall toolbox is used for connecting fences and partition walls.
Fence chains can be lengthened up to the common intersection point.
The fences to be joined are clicked one after the other and then connected together.

The end post of the first fence to be clicked is used as corner post. In the case of centred fence posts, the
corner post is placed exactly at the calculated fence corner.

additional element. Fence chains can be connected using an additional fence.
The program uses the first clicked fence as

The button
of the Fence, Partition-wall toolbox is used for lengthening or shortening fences and
partition walls.
All adjacent fences and posts of the same graphic group are read in by the program and regarded as
logical fence chain that is shortened or lengthened. The last fence element of the line is used as template
for the lengthening. Example:

3.1.15 Place, change, define system walls
System walls are post/partition-wall combinations with floor rail.
The posts can be set up with supporting walls as an option.
Any built-in wall parts can be shown in system walls. A ceiling connection strip above the system walls will be shown as an
option.
A cabin floor and cabin ceiling can be created when the system wall border is closed.
Lengths of 0.25m to 3.00m with many different built-in features are placed at the height of 2.55m.

Mobile walls are combinations of building walls and associated built-in parts (windows, doors, etc.).
Mobile walls have a predefined length and can be simply placed in a line.
Ceiling rails and floor rails, and hangers and floor storage are not displayed.

3.2.1 Definition of wind bracings
Wind bracing profile
Wind bracings are bracings for truss girders that absorb and transfer horizontal wind forces.
The stage module creates steel girders for surrounds, floor profiles, supports, balustrades, stairs etc. There are no specific entry
dialogues or properties for these objects.
Standard steel girders and wind bracing steel girders are produced using the same functions. There are however different
graphic properties (3D level, 3D colour, 3D line values) and different data mask location entries. All change, new structure,
and SDNF export functions differentiate between steel girders and wind braces.
