We are a people of many backgrounds who pray together and work together as disciples of Christ. We use our time, talent and treasure in service to one another and all. FROM THE PASTOR LITURGY AND PRAYER Please Pray for the Repose of the Soul for: Inez Capizano + Brothers and Sister in Christ: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel” (MK 16:15). This mission is given to all the disciples of Jesus, and is fundamental in the call of the priest. As a priest we are sent to serve the church wherever the Diocese asks us to serve. As I announced last week Fr. Lawrence has been asked by the Bishop to continue his service for the Diocese at St. Basil Catholic Church in Vallejo starting July 1, 2016. Two years ago, he left his family and friends, his country and culture, his support group and brother priests, to come here to serve in our community. With trepidation and anxiety, he stepped off the plane and into St. Clare Parish. During those two years we have watched his worry and hesitation melt away and his humor, compassion and love has touched the hearts of all. It is with sadness that we send him forth to minister to another community, but it is also with pride that we see him growing in confidence in ministry and we know that he will touch the lives of many at St. Basil Catholic Church. Fr. Renerio “Jong” Sabuga will be joining us on July 16, 2016 to minister to our parish. He was ordained on February 22, 2000 for the Diocese of Cayagan de Oro in the Philippines. He has served in the Sacramento Diocese for 3 years, first in residence in Placerville and as a Parochial Vicar in Woodland. We welcome his experience and different culture as he comes to serve us. Once again I ask for your continued prayers for the priests and seminarians of our Diocese and for future vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
