www.tikves.com.mk with a new design
By changing the visual and functional design of our web page we wanted to make
it more informative and more user-friendly. The new web page introduces new,
fresh communication with the public in the country and worldwide and with those
who appreciate the Macedonia’s Finest. In addition to the information on our
winery’s history, its development and working philosophy, the achievements and
novelties, an integral part of our news-stand is the information on new products.
Each one of our produce lines includes description of individual wines, with tips
on how to serve it and to pair it with food.
What might be the most attractive part of the web page is the wine education
section. Those who lack knowledge in cooking may find here useful recipes for
delicious meals, and those who are skilled in cooking may find information on the
best combinations of “Tikves” wine and food. Additionally, our page will include
a wine glossary, tips on how to taste, serve and store wine, as well as many other
useful hints on viticulture.
We must not avoid mentioning the possibility for an online reservation of a wine
tour or wine tasting in our restaurant in Kavadarci. Of course, all details on the
restaurant offer are easily accessible on our new and upgraded
www.tikves.com.mk.
Dear friends,
The last few months of 2012 have marked the events that celebrate wine and the delicacies that go with it.
To us, the most important was the “Festival of Young Wine” that was organized this year for the third time.
We were part of “Vino-skop”, the “Best Sommelier in Serbia”, as well as many other enjoyable events.
You could read about them and other activities of Tikves, a few being the export to Denmark, or our new
redesigned page. We hope that in 2013 you will keep coming back to our page, and we will certainly give
you more reasons for it. For a start, check how to enjoy food and wine best.
As the 2013 is approaching, we raise a toast of “Vranec” to wish you a prosperous holiday season, full of
health, joy and success.
Happy New 2013, dear friends!
”Vranec” produced by “Tikves” exports in Denmark
Such great news to complete the year is the latest deal of “Tikves” to export
80,000 bottles of Vranec Special Selection to Denmark. The first quantities have
already been shipped to specialized stores of “ Hansen” (H.J. Hansen Vin A/S),
as well as to restaurants throughout Denmark. Success is even bigger as the
importer has proclaimed ‘Vranec” by “Tikves” the wine of the year and has
placed it on the wine lists alongside the most famous French, Italian,
Portuguese, Australian and American wines.
The new markets are a definite confirmation of the highest quality of our wines.
This success was achieved by intensive promotional activities of the company to
endorse our wines in Denmark, which will imply continuity and expansion of our
exports in this market.
The third “Festival of young wine” held in “Tikves“
By quoting the famous writer Paulo Coelho, who once
wrote: ‘What happens once may never happen again, and
what happens twice will most likely happen the third
time”, Svetozar Janevski, President of the Management
Board of ‘Tikves” opened the Festival of Young Wine that
took place for the third time, on 17-18 November. This
festival has grown into a lovely tradition aimed, primarily,
at promoting local viticulture.
Those who like premium wine had the unique opportunity
to try young wine of this year’s harvest. As tradition goes,
barrels are opened for the first time and the young wine is
tasted. This year the guests tasted the “stars of the year”
– Temjanika, Vranec, Chardonnay and Merlot. They could
also try the great food of our restaurant
and enjoy the performance by “Letecki
Pekinezeri” and Pepi Rendzov’s band.

VRANEC
Robust wine of unique flavor
Vranec is one of the most famous sort of grapes in Macedonia, and the wine
itself can be proud of myriad of fans. To produce this wine, grapes must have
reached its optimum ripeness, giving this wine complex aroma and distinctive
colour. It’s abundance of antocians, minerals and tannins, give this wine
fullness and structure.
Vranec is the segment of our production portfolio, known as traditional wines.
It characterizes with ruby red colour, rich aroma of forest fruits, prunes and
ripe cherry. It is a robust wine with strong tannin structure, well balanced,
with exceptional taste and character.
It is best paired with smoked meat, grilled meat and cheese of intensive taste.
We recommend a serving temperature of 16 – 18 degrees.
Wine glossary #7
Tannin is a substance in wine that derives from the skins and the seeds of grapes. It lends the
wine its distinctive bitter taste, but it is also the reason for the searing dryness-in-the-mouth
feeling, especially with unripe tannins.
It is typical for red wines, because, as the production technology goes, the fermentation of
red wines includes presence of seeds skins, during which both colour and the tannins are
extracted from the grapes. The presence of tannins in red wines is necessary for maintaining
their structure. As the wine matures, the tannins “soften” and their bitterness fades. It is one
reason why some red wines should better age for a period of time before they are consumed.
