Gree ngs, Lake Barrington began to see the frui on of our focused planning to create an environment which enables businesses and developers to be successful in our community and region which include the new developments and businesses featured in this issue. The Village saw significant development within the Business Park in 2013: the build out of Northpointe 4 as Ba le House Mission Based Laser Tag, a new restaurant quickly replacing RSVP’s, expansion of the Onion Pub brewing opera ons (home of one of Chicago‐
land's top pale ales), and a ground breaking on Pepper Road for the first re‐
tail space to be built in more than 20 years. Along with commercial develop‐
ment, the Village saw increased residen al ac vity as the new owner of the Enclave began construc on on three homes. Several large public infrastructure projects were completed this year: the replacement of the Woodland Bridge and resurfacing work in four neighbor‐
hoods and the comple on of the 26‐acre Freier Farm Park. Purchased in 2007 through our Open Space program, the Freier Farm was transformed into a community park which provides recrea onal ameni es for our residents while preserving our unique countryside and farming history. The Onion Pub & Brewery, home to
award-winning ales.
Finally, the Village took a major step towards improving waste and recycling collec on. The delivery of rolling carts to the en re community was completed in 2013. This should have several posi ve results: higher recycling rates, clean‐
er neighborhoods (no more blowing trash), reduced landfill impacts, and less animal intrusions. Plan Commissioners

Neighborly Awareness Program
INFORMATIONAL MEETING
with Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Roman Buchberger & Deputy Chip Reaves
Wednesday, January 22, 2014
7:00 PM
Village Hall - 23860 N. Old Barrington Road
Refreshments will be served.
The Village of Lake Barrington Public Safety and Community Relations Committees are establishing a
Neighbor Connect initiative. As part of the Neighbor Connect initiative and as a preventive measure,
we are establishing a Neighborly Awareness program in conjunction with the Lake County Sheriff's
Department to enhance your and your neighbors’ safety through networking and education.
Trustee John Schaller, Chairperson of the Public Safety Committee commented, “While fortunately,
the Village of Lake Barrington has not experienced an unusual amount of domestic crimes, including
thefts, break-ins, homeowner scams, or the like; having extra 'sets-of-eyes' is always beneficial. Creating a program like Neighborly Awareness in cooperation with the Lake County Sheriff's Department
allows for such a coordinated 'safe-living' effort.”
Join your neighbors and other residents from throughout Lake Barrington to learn more about the program and to meet one of our community’s officers – Deputy Chip Reaves.
Please RSVP your name, phone number or email address, and neighborhood you live in:
[email protected] or call (847) 381-6010, ext. 105.
Let your voice be heard!
Take the Healthier Barrington Survey!
In February of 2014, the Healthier Barrington Coalition will be sending out
the 2014 Healthier Barrington Needs Survey. This survey has been conducted by the Coalition every three years since 1996 and offers residents living in the 60010 area an opportunity to provide input into the
various aspects of living in the Barrington area. Topics include the environment, transportation, recreation, education, healthcare, employment and much more. If you receive a copy of the survey, please take
10-15 minutes to share your viewpoint. Your voice will be heard and you
can help shape the future in the Barrington area.
2014-2015 Vehicle Stickers are available at Village Hall.
Stickers are $5.00 each and are NOT mandatory. The Village offers the stickers as an amenity to residents to possibly avoid receiving citations when they travel
into the City of Chicago or other towns that require vehicle stickers. Applications can be found on the Forms &
Fees webpage at www.lakebarrington.org and at the counter at Village Hall. Have your vehicles’ make, model
and year for the application.
