Hadra association
The HADRA association was founded in 2001 and has for main focus the recognition and promotion of
electronic music. The association choses to emphasise its activity on the psychedelic trance culture, a
movement receiving little media attention in France. Its main activities include: artists management and
artistic careers management, workshops and training related to electronic music, concerts and events
organisation... as well as the annual organisation of its major event: the Hadra Trance Festival, the French
ambassador on the international psytrance scene.
This year sees the sixth edition of the Hadra Trance Festival which will take place in Lans-en-Vercors, Isère,
for the third consecutive year.
Hadra Trance Festival
The Rhone-Alpes region in South-Eastern France has become the national host for psychedelic trance, mainly
due to the development and recognition of the Hadra association and its regional activities over the past 10
years. The reoccurrence of the Hadra Trance Festival since 2008 as well as the explosion of its attendance
greatly accelerated this dynamic! In 2011 the festival showed an overall record attendance of nearly 20,000
with an increasing segment from overseas.
The Festival is a unique and remarkable experience thanks to its flawless organisation, the nature of the
surroundings and the values it stands up for, but also due to an eclectic and multidisciplinary programme
offering 120 concerts, performances, dancing, street arts, stage creations, video projections and digital
installations.
Over the years, the festival has become the largest celebration of trance culture in France and is now
regarded as a reference in Europe and worldwide. Each year, the Hadra Trance Festival is highly anticipated
by a devoted audience coming from further and further to enjoy these few days out of time.

Thematic
The Hadra Trance Festival offers a profuse artistic and cultural programming which gathers a musicians,
filmmakers and plastician artists to the world in a given time.
For two years now, the festival received the label of event part of the cultural years of French Institut and
CULTURESFRANCE. In 2010 for the cultural year with Russia in France and in 2011 with Mexico in France
(before its cancellation).
This year, it’s Croatia that we celebrate : a country which have a famous artist on the international trance
stage. We wanted to make this cultural ressources more accessible to our audience. So, we emphasise a
programming and communication based Croatian heritage.
The Hadra Trance Festival 2012 will host a programming that will celebrate about fifteen Croatian artist,
musicians, graphic artists, designers or DJs for the consecration of this project.
so, it will emphasise on the main stage focusing on asesthetic « electronic Trance » and also on the alternative
stage with the traditional music and world music, ambient music, or Dud or Reggae.
Also, at the same time and to complete this exchange, we wanted to propose for this edition, free tickets to
all croatian festivalgoers (on presentation of proof), as we have proposed to Russian Citizens in 2010 (on the
occasion of cultural year France - Russia) and Mexican citizens in 2011 (on the occason of cultural year France
- Mexico, despite the fact that it was canceled).

Hadra and the sustainable
development
A festival eco-responsible towards the environment and society
During Hadra Trance Festival, a special attention will be made on quality of artistic programming and also our
responsibility as an organizer of cultural events for the natural and social environment.
In this context, a study of environmental impact was conducted during the festival 2011, by the League for
the Protection of Birds. Noting that the birds had disappeared during the festival, we decided to move the
date of the festival in late August.
In 2008 we have obtained the approval « Youth and popular Education » by DDJS (Deparmental Directorate
of Youth and Sports), we continue our engagement to youth to give an access to learning and culture. That’s
why, we put into place, before the festival, mix and decoration workshops on the Vercors plateau and also,
organizing the music festival with « La Maison pour Tous » for 4 mountains, and conferences, workshops,
training and other activities will be available for free at the event.
In our programming, we want to support local artist, emerging regional artist as it’s the case with Tweakers,
Metastaz, Lakay.
Carrying out an économic impact study on Vercors in 2010 and 2011, measuring the injection of almost 265
000€ last year in direct and indirect impacts, it’s in this context that the hara festival integrate Vercors. We
put into place a social and solidary economy, integrating as much as possible producers and artisan of the
Vercors to the event.

Hadra festival to life of the plateau, we are building a social economy, integrating as much as possible producers
and craftsmen of the Vercors to the event.
We want to give in our practices of event organization, an conscience of our impact and to act consequently
to make it positive. So, here, we take elements of Agenda 21 of Culture adopted in 2004 by CGLU and the
charter of the Collective of music festivals in the region which joined Hadra.
In 2010 and 2011, we have apply a plan of action defined above and to act on environmental issues,
economics of proximity, good waste management and evaluation. Forty volunteers and Aremacs association
have contributed to keep the site as clean as possible. In 2010 and 2011, Hadra Trance Festival was awarded
the « A greener Festival Award » with a mention : « Commended – for well-managed, environmentally aware
festivals ».

Programming
During these four days, approximately 100 artists will perform on two different stages, bringing a
various mix of styles. Hadra brings local artists and a lot of foreign artists together.
More than twenty-five countries are represented at the festival this year : France, Croatia, Portugal, Belgium,
Germany, UK, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Ireland, Austria, Italy, Israel, South Africa, Canada, United
States, Chile, Brazil, Tahiti, Mexico…
Much attention is given to :
• regional artists (eg. for instance : Brain Driver, Cyrhill, Tweakers, Uzul, Digidep...),
• artists from committed collectives who actively engage in promoting Trance music (U-Recken, Toto ...),
• emerging artists, little known but very talented (Son of Kick, Lakay, Dubmentalist ...), because Hadra is
also meant to be a scout organization.
• The headliners are internationally renowned artists (Balkan Beat Box, Yab Yum, Shulman, Rona Hartner &
DJ Tagada...) who rarely perform in France and will perform exclusively in the Festival.
The festival holds two stages :
• The main stage focuses on psytrance and its wide scale of styles, and on aesthetic and rhythmic dancing :
The Balkan Beat with the internationally renowned artists The Balkan Beat Box, Ethno Trance (Secret
Vibes ...), Progressive Psytrance (Vaishiyas, D_Root, Feuerhake...), Dark Psytrance (Shotu, Penta, Yab
Yum...), Full-On (Driss, Ital ...).
• The alternative stage features many different styles of instrumental and electronic music, with more
relaxing sounds : Ambient / Downtempo (Sysyphe, Shulman, DJ Zen Aka Astral Waves, ...), Electro
psychedelic Dub (Lakay, VRX Digitron...), Dubstep (Son of Kick, Dubmentalist, Uzul...), World Music (Rona
Hartner, Khaled Ben Yahia, MKF [Trio] ...).
Alongside is also set up a village of stalls. It offers arts and crafts and world cuisine stalls, and more particularly
the many traditional products of the Vercors plateau’s craftsmen. In its brightly decorated alleys, you will be
invited to applaud the street performers, and to visit the refreshment stall held. You will also be able to relax
in the healing area which offers massages, yoga and dance sessions.
It’s an opportunity to enjoy a stunning, decorated by designers and lively performances by street artists and
digital arts. It is also possible to relax in the wellness center offering massages, yoga or dance.

Balkan Beat Box, a group of New York globetrotters, was founded by Israeli expats. They
built their reputation thanks to a combo of Balkan music (Bulgarian songs, Macedonian and
Serbian brass bands), oriental influences, some electro beats with a hiphop flow; before
recently introducing some cumbia and reggae-dub. The band is composed of Ori Kaplan,
ex-member of Gogol Bordello, Tamir Muskat, ex-drummer of Firewater and explosive singer
Tomer Yosef who joined them later on. BBB aka Balkan Beat Box opened itself up to even
more new influences for the release of their third album « Blue Eyed Black Boy », which uses
a lot of samples and electronic sounds, old synths and some toy instruments. While keeping
its identifying style, it engages with today’s reality.
For proof, the track « Part of the Glory », a clever mix between DJ Mujava and the Mano Negra
« King of Bongo », deals with social media, Youtube, and this notoriety everyone is searching
for. The album demonstrates even more social and political involvement with « Political
Fuck », almost worthy of Rage Against The Machine, although in a slightly more « civilized »
way. Those who did not adhere to BBB before should become convinced by this new chapter
working towards new musical horizons. Others will relish this new album from which the hits
fly out of the megaphone!

Boom Shankar is Armin Guenther, having his initiation with the Goa Trance scene,
have been travelling all over the world since the 90’s to reflect in his set the melting
pot situation the Psytrance scene is facing since its origin.
Label manager and A&R at BMSS Records, he was djing in festivals like Paradise
Waterfalls (Thailand), Ozora (Hungary) Antaris Project (Germany), Summer Never
Ends Festival (Switzerland), Full Moon (Thailand), Paradise Festival (Austria), Black
Moon (Italy), Mystica (Switzerland)...
Alexsoph is Alex Walter, a 28 year old DJ and Artist from Southern Germany,
started back in the year 2000 while having his first party experiences in Switzerland with a pumpy and groovy
progressive Note and the right psychedelic dosage. They gathered for Hadra Festival and prepare us a unique
set.

Fernando Diaz Gallardo, aka Barak, starts out as a musician in 1999 when he
was 15! Influenced by the 90s trance scene, Fernando peers into creating
a musical project that gives him ground ; Trance music turns out to be the
best way for him to share his emotions and energy. In 2001, together with
his friend and colleague Rene Sanchez (Dj Shove), they create the « Teen
Sluts » project which offers them a big mexican tour. In 2005, Barak makes
his entry into the French label Hadra Records. he becomes then Hadra’s mexican ambassador in Mexico
and worldwide. The label even releases Barak’s debut album « Twilight Cave » in 2008. His groovy rhythmic,
constant creativity and passion for blending styles delight daytime and nighttime music lovers !
BRAIN DRIVER

Sylvain aka Brain Driver discovered electronic music in 1995 with his first
rave party in south of France. Very quickly attracted by this world and
bought his first turntables in 1997. He begins to play in many free party
and night bar until 2001, then he decide to create his own tracks. In 2006,
his psytrance project « Brain Driver » is born. Since, he starts to play in a lot
of party alongside great artists like Talamasca, Absolum, Azax Syndrome,
Bliss, Phatmatix, Hyper Frequencies, Ace Ventura, Highko, Laughing Buddha, Biokinetix ... to name a few.
After the success of his E.P. « Nocturnal Addictions », he actually works on his debut album and his first
compilation... Stay tuned !!!

Brainiac is Philipp Cepetic started DJing at the beginning of the millennium and
write his own music few years later. Soon his releases appeared on well reputed
labels such as Wakyo Records, Spun, 24/7, Perfecto, Grasshopper Records, Catalyst
Records, Solar Tech Records & Vagalume Records, which took the industry by the
surprise with his crystalline production and powerful sound. His sound combines
futuristic rhythms and high-tech sounds with a psychedelic twist while keeping the
essence of melody and atmosphere alive. He performs at numerous high profile
events such as Universo Paralello (Brazil), Nagisa Music Festival (Japan), Urban Art
Forms (Austria) and various others in countries such as Mexico, India, South Africa,
Italy & Ireland, to name a few. And wherever he performs, it’s magic on the dancefloor.

Chriss is DJing since 2002 and after years of playing all over the globe
he joined Nutek Records Spain (Full On Style) and Antu Records Chile
(Psychedelic Style) in 2009.
So far he played in several German Festival as Vuuv, Antaris, Spiritual
Healing, Indian Spirit, Psychedelic Circus, Psychedelic Experience and
around the word : Life Festival (Ireland), Universo Paralello (Brasil),
Soulclipse (Turkey), Ozora (Hungary), and others.
Furthermore he is involved in a very new german project: Fullmoon-Festival presents Freqs of Nature from
04-09 July 2012 near Berlin.
COSMOSIS

With a career releasing Goa and Psytrance records for 17 years Cosmosis is a true
veteran of the scene. Cosmosis were one of the original artists that, along with
Total Eclipse, Hallucinogen, Man With No Name and Astral Projection and others,
helped to define the new Goa and Psy-trance sound in the early to mid nineties. The
first tracks released as Cosmosis was the Cannabinoid E.P released on vinyl in 1995
on Transient Records. Followed by a string of successful vinyl releases culminating
in the « Seminal Cosmology » album in 1996, one of the first Goa or Psy-Trance
artist albums. During the last 17 years of touring Bill has played Cosmosis’ music
to ecstatic crowds in such diverse places as: Japan, Brazil, Israel, India, Germany,
Australia, New Zealand, Colombia, United States,South Africa, Egypt, Switzerland, Sweden and others...
CUBIC SPLINE

Fond of sound synthesis, the Cubic Spline duo (Clément Bastiat and Olivier
Richard) founds his uniqueness into puzzling atmospheres and detailed
sound textures. Cubic Spline has developed a very mental and finelyworked sound which allies marries the genes of trance goa, the hypnotism
of dark psytrance and the power of modern productions. This duet joined
the Hadra Records label at the beginning of 2010 and, after a first release
on the label, finally releases his first EP, « Unusual Path » on October 19th! Get ready to feel the deep

CYRHILL

Cyrhill aka Cyril MURTAS discovered and loved electronic music in 1990
when he was a young boy. In 1992 he started to set an important and varied
electronic music collection of CDs, including house, techno, trance, acid,
hardcore, big beat, etc… He discovered and fell in love with psychedelic
trance in 1995, with the releases of the great names of this time, such as
Total Eclipse, Astral Projection, Doof, Transwave, Electric Universe, etc…
His DJ sets are dynamic and powerful, groovy and emotional, with high class mixes. Cyrhill won several DJ
contests and shared stages with famous psytrance and progressive artists like The Commercial Hippies, Hyper
Frequencies, Braincell, Symphonix, Klopfgeister, Invisible Reality, Egorythmia, Funky Dragon, Journey, Antix,
and more…
At the present time, he is part of Omniphonie association which organises parties around Lyon and Valence
area since 2008. Cyrhill is now proud to integrate and to play for his favourite music label : Iono Music.

After experimenting different aspects of acoustic music, the two childhood
friends Julien Fougea and Luc Achintres were hooked by the 90’s
techno scene. In 1998, the duet became a quatuor with the creation of
« Droidsect ». After 3 years working on this project, Julien and Luc decide
to keep playing as a duet, creating in 2001 the band named « Digital Talk »
which was to become one of the most famous Psytrance duet in France
and worldwide ! After 6 years delivering a constant stream of powerful tunes, the French masters of alien
frequencies present their long-awaited second album, in 2010, « Audio Extremists » on Hadra Records. Get
together on stage for a powerful and explosive show, result of a passionate rehearsal studio work !
DIRTY SAFFI

Dirty Saffi is Bom Shanka Music love couple composed of Al, one half of
Psymmetrix, and Nuky, the most talented DJ of this British label. They are
completely in love with this style of music which they estimate to be the
most intelligent and mystical sound to dance to. Their first EP got released
in 2010 and their debut album « Beauty and the Bitch » is scheduled for
the end of summer 2012.
DRISS

Driss is one of the main DJs of the Hadra Records label and one of its
founders. His experience of the Trance scene in France and abroad, as an
organizer or for his crazy DJsets acclaimed in some of the biggest festivals
of the world (Ozora in Hungary, Nautica in Russia, Tansahara in Morocco
and many others), has never ceased growing his attachment for the goa
trance, a musical style to which he identifies himself completely. Since the
adventure of the association Spiritual Freequencies of which he is one of the initiators, he is participating to
the creation and to the development of the Hadra association, its label and its festival!
D_ROOT

D_Root project embodied by Aurélien Boijols was born at the end of the
90’s. Influenced by some of the pioneers such as Vibrasphere or Liquid
Soul, D_Root imposes himself on the regional trance scene with a style
of his own. Since he joined the Hadra Records Label in 2008, D_Root has
became famous in France, Switzerland and Belgium where he shares the
stage with some of the biggest headliners: HyperFrequencies, Gaudium,
Lunaspice, etc… His first album, « Root’Art » has been released in 2010, on Hadra Records.

EFFICIENT ENERGY

Efficient energy is a DJ and composer for 8 years now. Drummer and violinist from
an early age, he discovered electronic music in 2000. Profoundly influenced by the
psychedelic trance, it is therefore natural that he began to mix this music psychédelic,
offering to every performance mix of full efficiency, promoting eclectism and
developing an impressive energy.
ELEKTRIGGER

ElekTrigger literally grew up around the corner from Waldfrieden, which
is well known for the international psytrance festival « Wonderland » and
the familial summer opening festival « Hai in den Mai ».
His love for electronic music began after one of the first techno parties at
Waldfrieden in the early 90´s. After that he was addicted... to electronic
music !!! So it was just a matter of time until he started to experiment with
music and soon became one of the resident DJ´s of this famous venue.
His prefered style ranges between progressive and psychedelic trance. You can feel the influence of techno
and hear the meaning of trance music. Let´s take you on a psychedelic journey...

few years later he was infected by the techno virus, which changed his DJ work
completely. In the following years, he developed into what he still is today: one
of the most popular and influential DJs of the international progressive trance
and psy-trance scene. Stefan has performed more than one thousand gigs in
over twenty countries. In 2001 he was voted DJ of the Year by the readers of
Mushroom magazine, the most popular psy-trance magazine in the world.
By the end of the 1990s, Stefan had begun working as a producer. Since then, his
prolific output has included four artist album releases, a few single 12-inches and countless collaborations
and remixes. Stylistically, he is somewhere between progressive house and trance, but his repertoire
includes ambient and chillout (and lately even hip-hop).

Nico discovered psytrance for the first time in 1999 and started djing shortly after.
Chasing psychedelic parties across France and Europe lead him to attend his first
Hadra parties in Grenoble and around the Alps. In 2002, Moonquake moved to
London and quickly found his place among the English psytrance community. Willing
to take part in the action, he joined various collectives organising events. With the
help of Jason Psylent in 2006, he became producer of the Chrysalid parties.
His first compilation « Epicentre » came out on Hadra Records in July 2009.
Moonquake developed a distinctive style deeply influenced by the British
underground sound. His sets change according to the moods of the dancefloors

Mubali is the musical project of Greg Farley. In music education funk, soul and

DJ Nesho has been a music lover since a young age. As the manager of the
band « Pulska Garez », his influences involved metal, rock, hardcore, grind

deeply touched by the colours, decorations, the role of UV reactive paint,

and the first single Azure Child was released. In 1999 and 2000 RA was

Yab Yum is a stomping night-time psytrance project from Switzerland,
formed in 2004 by Ajja and Dj Gaspard. Quickly conquering psy-lovers and
space cadets around the globe, the duo has since become known for its
twisted psychedelic grooves, impeccable production and quirky touch.
Their releases include the much-appreciated debut album « Nocturnal
Emissions » on Peak Records in 2006, as well as numerous tracks on
renowned psytrance labels worldwide. They have performed in most major festivals and parties around the
world, shaking and grooving dance-floors wherever they go.
Featuring spunky loops’n’rhythms, spastic elastic sounds and funky leads balanced by rolling bass-lines and
powerful kicks, Yab Yum can best be defined as psychedelic trance with a sense of humour!

Passionate with electronic music, Yann started djying in late 90’s mixing
hard tek and trance. The incredible sounds from artists and labels such
as Rastaliens, Pleiadians, Logic Bomb, TIP, immersed him in the fantasy of
psychedelic trance.
He met in 2000 the Spiritual Freequencies crew which lead to the creation
of Hadra in 2001 in which Yann has been deeply involved. Since 2009, he
has become a resident DJ, « Yamaga », on Hadra Records, bringing a musical universe inspired by psychedelic
sounds and colorful atmospheres of the English psytrance scene.

area. He quickly became passionate about techno, the parties and festivals. Soon
after, he logically invested in a pair of decks to feed his passion. In the early 2000’s,

upside down, ... pez ner).
He discovered trance in 2006 at the Boom Festival and quickly fell in love with
progressive; perhaps due to the similarities this genre shares with techno.
His style can be described as captivating and hypnotic minimal techno that gently

Gabriel Le Mar is a veteran in electronic music with over 30 album
productions on his belt. In this process the productive artist likes to integrate

who finally started to satisfy his musical thirst. He began building up a

From an early age, Khaled Benyahia is rocked by the music. At the end of his
musical studies at the Conservatoire in 1987, the press hailed as one of the best

de la Danse de Lyon (concert at the Opera with Lotfi Bouchnak). Follows an oud

Musician, producer and DJ, Rafael Hernández, began his career at young
age playing drums and bass in several rock bands. Then, the late 1990s’
party scene was the gateway for a newly found infatuation, so Rafael

fused goa trance together with ethnic Mexican music, which eventually
furnished his background with years of hard work and experience, until

DJ Zen was born in France but is established in Quebec, Canada, since 1996. At
an early age and thanks to his family, he was exposed to all kinds of music. His
father brought him into contact with electronic music from Jean-Michel Jarre and
Vangelis when he was 10 years old. He’s the label manager of Altar Records since
2009 and makes psychill music under the alias of DJ Zen / Astral Waves since 2002.

3 years ago I discovered the veejaying and I play on the stages of electro Britain
and elsewhere. 2D/3D graphic designer, I am also passionate about drawing, photo
and electro. For my sets I use videos that I created specifically for the veejaying.
My idea is to accompany the music videos that tell a story, and aesthetics close
animation.

and multifaceted video liveset, his vj set is away from over-saturated and
stroboscopic vjing. Always looking for new ways of seeing and thinking
about visuals, his influences come from the seventies post-cyberpunk
movements and information sciences. The result is a unique visual universe, hypnotic, minimal or frenetic.

Boris Petrovski Born in 975 in Skopje. Graduated at the Faculty of
Fine Arts in Skopje, 1998, at Sculpture Department and Graphic
Design. From 1996 he works as a decor artist of trance parties. He
lives and works in Skopje as a free-lance artist. Dreamy psychodelic stretches in whitch everything throbs,
vibrates and kinetically flows with fractal progression, phantasmagoric cosmic landscapes.
COSMIC WALKERS

Cosmic Walkers works in Leipzig in Germany for more 15 years. This group of
decorator artist are able to create a full deco concept, but also for the evenings
of the most important event. They works installing structures of different
materials, psychedelic constructions, fluorescent painting, light and video.
They created a lot of decoration for trance festivals and parties in Germany
and abroad (Fullmoon Festival (2002/03/04/05), Bomm Festival (2002/04), Timegate (2011)).

Mad Studio was born from the meeting between the multi-talented artists Fafou (visual
designer from the Mus’act association), and Pierrot (visual designer from Hadra and the
Cirque Autour company). Settled in their workshop near Grenoble, France, they work
around the clock to build giant size set-ups, props for shows, video media and what not...
Painting, carpentry, tailoring, metalwork, plastics are their domain of expertise… « Ask us the impossible,
we’ll see what we can do... », that’s their mojo!

Musact is the resident association and program planner for electronic music
of the Adaep, an alternative concert hall which has been developing its project
in Grenoble for 30 years. « One of the great things in electronic music is that il
gives more importance to images and visual styles.» The team can adapt their
work to the theme of the party : Hip hop, Drum n’ bass... In general they use
plaster, wood, metal. The decoration matches the lighting and the video.
