1. Provide complete design drawings and specifications for a new addressable voice evacuation fire alarm system to meet current
codes. All existing devices and cabling on site shall be replaced with new.
2. All initiation devices and connections to auxiliary equipment such as fans, HVAC units and door release shall be reconnected to the
new system.
3. The two sets of doors with local hold open shall remain as is.
4. Audible and visual coverage shall be installed to meet current code requirements. Existing device locations for speakers and strobes
appear to be located so that new devices may be installed at existing locations without the need to add any surface mount devices.
5. The contractor shall provide complete design drawings with conduit and cable routing on the Plans. This will require investigation of
the existing system in order to determine the existing pathways.
6. The City does not wish to have additional surface conduits installed in the building. If during the investigation of the existing systems
it is found that additional device locations may be required additional pathways will be coordinated with the City. Removal of all existing
equipment will require patching and painting of existing surfaces.
7. As the theater cannot have downtime, so both systems will need to be simultaneously operational. The existing system will need to
be removed in total or in phases and the new system installed in those areas until the entire building has been changed over. All
phasing shall be closely coordinated with the City.
8. The contractor shall coordinate location of the Fire Alarm Panel and associated equipment with the City, prior to start of construction
and installation.
9. Contractor shall coordinate with the City for all submittals to the local fire Marshal for review and approval.

The Project involves renovation of the existing bus facilities within the curb-to-curb width of Redwood Boulevard between De Long
Avenue/Diablo Avenue and Grant Avenue in the City of Novato, CA. The primary purposes for this project are to enhance pedestrian
and bicycle safety and provide operational improvements for buses and vehicles.
Under the proposed Project, one center platform area would be provided in the median with common shelters for passengers traveling
in both directions. This center median would replace the existing passenger platforms currently in the median as well as the bus pull
out areas along adjacent portions of Redwood Boulevard. The Project would include new landscaping in the center median,
emphasizing drought tolerant plants and shrubs.
Construction of the consolidated facilities would involve removal of existing facilities, minor site preparation activities, construction of
the new center platform, paving and finishing the new center bus-only lanes, and installation of new shelter, shelter amenities,
crosswalk enhancements, including two new pedestrian traffic signals and signage. Removal of 16 trees is required to accommodate
the redesigned alignment of the transit facility. No existing redwood trees are to be removed or disturbed. Construction of all of the
proposed improvements is anticipated to take about 6 months. Construction will be staged such that bus operations will not be
substantially interrupted during the construction period.

PHASE II: Removal of an existing, 4,000 gallon, underground storage tank (UST) and all associated fueling appurtenances, including
but not limited to: removal of existing concrete, electrical conduiUwires, sump, all underground/above ground fuel piping, vent, vent
pipes, including any testing required by the regulatory agencies, backfill and restoration of surface areas to match existing conditions
as well as compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) where applicable. Work shall also include removal of existing fuel
pump and concrete dike around existing pump, roof mounted day tank, piping and electrical from Boiler Room to day tank and
generator located on roof.
If soil contamination related to the UST is discovered, the project may include removal of up to 50 tons of contaminate soil. If
contamination is more extensive, the remediation will be considered a separate action for purposes of CEQA. Any removal action will
comply with applicable State and local environmental permitting requirements.

Students who attend this class will be able to walk away with a better understanding of prevailing wages and how to remain in compliance with the law. The instructor will teach you how to
review the contract to determine the applicable prevailing wage and identify the funding
source for the project (local, state or federal). Our instructor will also work with students to

This course is ideal for supervisors with safety and health responsibilities, and for employee
safety and health awareness. Students will be introduced to OSHA policies, procedures, and
standards as well as construction safety and health principles. The course will review the scope
and application of the OSHA Act and General Duty Clause, as well as examine areas that are
most hazardous. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an OSHA
construction safety and health 10-hour course completion card from UCSD. YOU MUST

What’s in a name? We hold ‘class’ for this ‘general’ answer on contractor regulation. Another Lone Star
contractor hopes to ‘address’ a question on long-distance ‘supervision’. We find it unfortunate to inform
a daughter that despite the loss her worthy ambition is not experience in applying for a license number…
Q: Our business name has the word “Solar” as part of it. We currently have the “B” (General Building),
the “C-10” (Electrical), and the “C-46” (Solar) classifications. We need to replace our Qualifier but our
new employee has only taken the exams for the ‘B’ and the ‘C10’. We don’t really need the “C-46” classification so we are going to let it drop off of our license. When I called the CSLB to inform them of our
situation, the person I spoke with said we would need to change our name to eliminate “Solar” since we
are no longer a “C-46” contractor. Is there any way around this? We’ve been in business for over 20
years and don’t want to lose our company name.
A: It depends. A company can only use the word “Solar” in the generic term if they hold the “C-46” classification. For example, if your business name is “ABC Solar”, you would be required to have a “C-46”
classification on your license. However, you are allowed to use the word “Solar” in your business name if
you have either the “A” (General Engineering), “B” (General Building), or “C-10” (Electrical) as long as it is
descriptive to your classification. Such as, “ABC Solar Electrical” (“C-10”), or “ABC Solar Construction” (“B”).
Q: We are applying for a new license for our Texas Limited Liability Company (LLC) and we have an employee who has been with us for over 20 years and is involved in all of our projects. He sometimes
works 60 hours a week. We are wanting to obtain a California license, but reading the regulations, we
are wondering if he should use a California address based on the need to “supervise”, or is it okay to use
his actual address on the application, which is in Texas? Will he still meet the requirements of an RME if
he doesn’t have a California address?
A: It is perfectly acceptable for an Responsible Managing Employee or Responsible Managing Officer to
reside out of State and still fulfill their duties as RME/RMO. There is no requirement for a Qualifier to be
on every job site. Your RME is required, per Board rule 823, to be working at least 32 hours per week or
80% of the company’s operating time.
Q: My Dad recently passed away and I want to take over his Contractor’s license. I haven’t technically
been an employee but I’ve been involved in his business doing estimating, design, coordinating meetings with other contractors, etc. This is all while holding my full time job as a real estate agent. How do I
get his license number under my name? I don’t want to have to take any tests.
A: Unfortunately you will not qualify for the license unless you have four years of full time work experience (within the last ten). Further, you will need to document at least one year of practical experience,
meaning hands-on. The CSLB does not consider estimating, design, or coordinating meetings with other

Fuel gasses may be toxic. Check a copy of the manufacturer's MSDS.
Never allow oxygen to contact oil , grease or other flammable substances.,
Oil and/or grease in the presence of oxygen becomes highly flammable or explosive. Never use oxygen as a substitute for
compressed air. Never use oxygen to dust off clothing or work areas. Never use oxygen in pneumatic tools. Never use oxygen for ventilation.
Oxygen and fuel gas hoses are not interchangeable. They must be easily distinguishable by either color or surface characteristics sensitive to touch. Keep welding hoses clear of any failing metal, slag or sparks. Only qualified technicians should
clean or repair a regulator.
Do not tamper with the relief valve or remove it from a regulator.
Examine hoses before attaching to welding torch handles or regulators. Never use a defective hose or a hose in doubtful
condition.
Never perform any welding or cutting operation without proper eye protection. Always keep gas cylinders secured properly
and in a vertical position. Keep valve protection caps in place whenever cylinders a e not in use. Close valves completely on
empty cylinders.
Always open cylinder valves slowly and carefully.
When a cylinder wrench is needed on the valve, keep the wrench close at hand so the valve can turned off quickly if necessary.
Place gauges if they become damaged and keep dust covers in place. Perform welding in a well ventilated area.
