OUTSIDE
Gardens
Archway House is approached via a long
shared private driveway over which we
understand the property to enjoy a right of
access.
The grounds are entered by a pair of five-bar
gates to the side of the house which open to
a generous concreted driveway providing
parking for numerous vehicles and access to
the integral garage. A path leads from the
drive to the main entrance to the property
where, spanning the width of the front of the
house in a generous area of lawn enclosed by
close boarded timber panelled fencing and
with a gateway giving pedestrian access to
Brockhill Road. Edging the lawn are various
specimen trees and shrubs including
Magnolia Grandiflora, Euphorbia and
Pittisporum amongst others. Accessed from
the sitting room and dining room is a
generous and secluded elevated paved
terrace partially set beneath a timber framed
pergola supporting a grape vine and backed
by a fig tree. At the far end of the lawn,
passing between two beds planted with a
variety of shrubs, herbaceous and other
plants, a flight of three steps lead up to a
further lawned area backed by shrubs
including lilac and flanked by a magnificent
pair of palm trees. From here stepping
stones lead beneath two laburnum to a
further area of paving surrounding a formal
rectangular pond with trickling water feature,
edged by a magnificent Gunnera and a
further border planted with camellias, azalea
and rhododendrons. From here a step down
beneath a pergola, with a further magnolia
tree alongside, leads to a generous paved
courtyard, in part set beneath a timber
framed pergola which supports climbing
roses, surrounded by various specimen trees
affording a great sense of privacy together
with lower level shrubs including euonymus,
laurel, buddlia, photinia and euphorbia
amongst others. This delightfully enclosed
area provides a unique and inviting
environment in which to relax and enjoy al
fresco dining. From here a pathway extends
across the rear of the house where there is a
